Vagifem blood help !
« on: September 06, 2021, 07:52:24 AM »

Hello I’ve been on vagifem for 4 days. Last time I only lasted 2 as I got shocking headaches so I stopped.
No headaches this time but now I’m bleeding. Last night when putting the tablet up the applicator had brown blood on it. Now I have it in my knickers, more reddish this time.
I’m also getting slight cramping similar to a period cramp.
I haven’t had a period for over 3 years now
Silly me googled it and it said bleeding from vagifem could be uterus cancer. Help
I have a doc appointment Wednesday. Anyone else have this happen ?

WHOOOOA.   If the skin in the vagina is very thin there mayB blood.  Lack of oestrogen causes the body to become dry: inside and out, including the vagina.  So if you push the capsule too high it may well tear the already tender areas = blood.

'vagifem' may cause headaches and some period pains initially which should ease after a few nights of use.  It is very localised.  The idea being to plump up the tissues and increase moisture.

Did U read the leaflet in the box?  Do read the 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy' threads on the Forum.  Make notes ;-)

Thanks. I’m pretty sure it’s not broken skin as there’s too much blood.
Yes I know about atrophy as I suffer from it, however it has settled down since I started hrt patches a month ago. The bleeding today is equivalent to a light period

Yes I needed a pad today. It’s only a small amount but I’m worried now

What's the worst that could happen?

I’m worried it’s cancer. I’m a hypercondriac. I shouldn’t have googled it

It will be the patches, i started a period type bleed after being petiod free for 6 years after being on patches 2 month. It can last on and off for up to 6 months, read the leaflet for your patch, its a common side effect for conti patches.
Check with your doctor too.

Yes thanks your correct, I thought that this morning and I just spoke to the doc who confirmed. I didn’t think of the patches at first as I’ve been on them for a month. But yes it’s a relief. I’m getting a pelvic ultrasound as well, the doc said I’m due for one anyway

I actually miss my period. I used to hate getting them but I’d rather them than a dried up sand paper lined vagina

The sand paper effect will be eased by appropriate, localised treatment ;-)

Hyperchondriac - has become something that it actually doesn't mean .  Apparently  ::). If I can find the article - but don't hold your breath.

Why look up GOOGLE who knows very little if you have health anxiety?

You'll still need to keep up the treatment, the period is brought on by the progesterone part of the patch shedding the lining not because you've ovulated and released oestrogen, once its thin again the bleeding will stop for good but by then hopefully the patch and Vagifem will be helping with the atropy.
