I have glasses for the first time ever, for reading/close up etc.
Have worn them for nearly 2 weeks now and when I take them off my eyes are blurry, watery and I feel a bit light headed. Is this normal adjustment or are the glasses no good? My sight when I’m not wearing them feels like it’s bad now and it wasn’t.
Optician said may take a week to adjust but didn’t expect this feeling all the time. I am going to call them on Monday but just thought I would ask if anyone else has experience of this.

It's adjustment.  It takes my eyes a couple of days to get used to a new prescription.  I can't walk about with new reading glasses, I wouldn't be without my distance 1s ;-).  Great 4 📺 viewing and I need them if I drive.  I have to wear those when cleaning the pond of duck weed too 

I also have to vary where I hold my laptop and books with the new ones.  My eyes get weepy by evening, probably too much keyboard time!

Hello Roobee, like CLKD says, it is adjustment.

My first reading glasses gave me seasickness if I wore them for anything else. I think it took some weeks for me to work it all out. I have got used to either taking them off or sliding them up before doing the next thing.
I am on my second prescription now, and find I am more prepared for the adjustment. Maybe more reason to now I have found this forum?

Agree with the other ladies,when you take the spex off after reading,just sit for a minute and re-adjust,I've now spex for reading AND long distance,I have pairs of them all over the place,you'll get there

I do too Jaypo, the long distance ones are fine, but these reading ones feel like they have really messed with my eyes.
I will take a bit more time to see if it settles. As I have never had glasses before I just wondered if it meant they weren’t quite right for me.

Make sure that you know which is which, I've had to put stickers on my cases 2 separate mine from his as well as readers from long distance - I have the older prescription of each in the car and camper van.  I did try vari-focals but I couldn't get on with those!

My older prescriptions go to charity that sends them to countries that don't have access to good eye care or to our local homeless shelter.

Was it optician spex? Or ready readers? My eyes have different weaknesses,my right needing a stronger lens.

Mine are different, too, but ready readers are OK for when I just need to check something.
I have three pairs in different places in the house, or so I thought. They seem to have parties sometimes, and end up in the same place!

Yep.  It's That Strange Woman again  . All mine ended up in the bathroom a few weeks ago which is where I have crossword books

Hi there.
I used to have two pairs reading/ distance and felt the same in the beginning.
No I have varifocals on my nose always nd paid for the best lenses I could afford. Amazing and a great bonus to my lofe two years ago.

I've worn glasses for years, and it often takes a few days to adapt to a prescription change, as it's always stronger 
Is it quite a strong prescription? Are you wearing them for quite long periods? I'd suggest wearing them for short periods, like maybe 30 minutes, then having a break of at least an hour.
