Bleeding on utro and estrogel
« on: August 02, 2021, 02:19:42 PM »

Hi , coming into month 5 of taking 100mg utro days 1-25 then 3 day break and 2 pumps of gel . On the 3 day break slight bleed but I’m now seeming to bleed about 2 weeks into the 25 days cycle . Will this settle or is the dose off ? I feel good in myself it’s just this bleeding , I thought on conti there would be no bleed 🙈

I've never been on your particular regime but if it's a conti HRT why do you have a break? Sorry if I'm being daft! Conti HRT can cause bleeding for the first six months but a bleed also occurs when you withdraw the progesterone on a sequi HRT. Not sure this helps  ;D

Hi , my gp said to have the 3 day break I did question this at the time . It’s very hard to say for sure if I was a full 12 months with no period as I was 9ish months none then it was found I had polyps which were removed , had bloods done which gp said at 58yrs I was post meno but because I was having such bad brain fog , aches , hotness I was ok to go onto the conti regime 🤷🏻‍♀️ The only other thing would it make a difference if I was applying the gel to inner thighs but recently swopped to outer arms ?

If you still have your own cycles usually the only progestogen to stop you bleeding is a mirena. Does it feel like a period? Some women aren't meno until their early 60s so it could be a surge of your own hormones. The 3 day break can be a good solution for late peri as it allows a bleed if there's been a build up. Perhaps use a sequi regime if the bleeding becomes regular, or continue as you are for now and see if it settles. Where you apply the gel should make no difference.
