Short answer - not well

After hyster+BSO I developed sleep problems which semi-resolved after a couple of years or so.
It was mostly around getting to sleep - I could usually drop off in from of the tv! - but staying asleep was also a problem. Eventually got around 6 hours not very refreshing sleep.

After trying HRT, my sleep problems initially became better, then became much worse and several months after stopping they still haven't resolved. I get about 2 hours a night, which is hellish. It affects all aspects of daily life.

I've done a huge amount of research on things that might help, but nothing's worked so far.

I really need something, but all I've been offered is SleepStation, which I'm not impressed with and hasn't helped.

Another update

I continue to improve my sleep quality. I did go through a period when I was waking several times a night, wide awake, and thus having difficulty getting back to sleep.

I realised that the reason i was wide awake was due to adrenaline circulating . I had an overactive sympathetic nervous system at night. Why ? I thought perhaps it was menopausal anxiety, but I did not feel anxious. It then occurred to me that I was having sleep apnoea. I came across Dr Dylan Petkus on Youtube who describes how he 'cured' his sleep apnoea using yoga breathing exercises and a ketogenic diet.

I started to do 4-7-8 breathing whenever I woke at night. I just needed to do them for a few minutes and I would drift back to sleep. Better still, if I did them for 2-3 minutes before bedtime, I would not have any discernable awakenings and awoke feeling refreshed.  My blood pressure readings lowered to normal readings.

You do not need to undertake any of his expensive 1:1 coaching, as all his advice is provided free on his Youtube channel. I did buy his book on kindle. This was only £4. The link to his most helpful video is here

I hope this information will be helpful to those ladies who keep waking up endlessly in the middle of the night and do not feel refreshed after sleep. It is worth committing  to 2-3 minutes of breathing exercises before bedtime as a trial to see if it makes a difference. If it helps, please come back and let us know.
