I'm 44, peri-menopause (I think based on symptoms) and just a few months into my HRT journey.

After only around 10 weeks on Evorel Sequi I switched to Oestrogel & Utrogestan (only becuase I couldn't get the patches to stay on).

I'm in my second cycle of the Oestrogel & Utrogestan and I'm noticing I feel A LOT better during the Utrogestan (progesterone) phase. I did notice this will the Evorel patches too, but it seems even more noticable now - whether that's because of the different treatment or my body being better adjust to HRT I don't know. Or, it could be just co-incindental I suppose.

On the oestrogen alone, I often feel a bit emotionally "wobbly", way more than I used to before menopausal symptoms started. During the progestestorne phase I feel good, just like more pre-menopause self really.

I'm wondering whether to reduce my oestrogel dose. I currently use two 1.25g pumps of the oestrogel, as directed by my GP, but I've seen posts on here by people who use just one pump.

Of course, I'll discuss this with my GP before I do anything, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience of this or advice they could share with me?

On the Utrogestan I take two 180mg capsules for 12 days from day 14 of my cycle.

Thoughts/advice appreciated. :-)

I just turned 45 and I feel better on one pump. I’ve gone as high as 4 pumps. At age 44, you might have enough estrogen but be having anovulatory cycles this not making your own progesterone, so adding the progesterone might be just what you need. Not sure if you have other symptoms that required the estrogen but you’re right that more isn’t always the answer.

Thanks Shannonplussed. I hadn't heard the term "anovulatory" before so just googled it. Interesting!
