I've been on omeprazole for two years and it gets rid of my symptoms linked to hiatus hernia. Without it my oesophagus became very ulcerated which brings its own risks. Solve one problem and get another sometimes it seems!  I think Ranitidine is still banned at the moment?

My mum had a hiatus hernia which has got me wondering 🤔 she was prescribed peppermint water, that’s going back 15 years ago. Yeah still banned as far as I’m aware. X

It might be worth asking your GP for a scan to rule out fibroids.  They can cause heavy bleeding - and depending on size, can interfere with digestion.  Admittedly, it's not unless they are very big that they tend to cause nausea or heartburn - so you'd probably have felt a hard mass in the abdomen if that was the case.

Hi, its like any drug,

one has to weigh up the potential side effects and benefits. There is lots of info on the internet , but asking the GP is the best course of action. Gp's tend to put people on long term meds and leave them there without reviewing, or dealing with the cause. I get nausea regularly and peppermint tea, sucking ginger and small meals helps. So does meditation and sipping hot water. Unfortuately estrogen defiency can ramp up most things. I do hope you get in under control.

I haven't taken Ranitadine for a long time and did not know it had been banned in the uk - I did not want to take it long term anyway - but if I had not stopped it the GP would have still been prescribing it for me until the ban!

Thanks applespider, I don’t feel anything but if I don’t feel any better I’ll be back in touch with my gp.

So true pepperminty. I’m going to see how I go over the next few days, last time I felt like this was April but it was a lot worse than how I feel just now. So frustrating. Like I said worrying doesn’t help when you feel like this and I find it makes me more anxious. I have heard about the peppermint and I do drink hot water. Thanks, hope I feel better soon too  :) x

4 me lockdown was great.  Boris said 'don't go out or meet any1' so I didn't have to put on an act or make excuses not to attend ;-)

Now we are getting back to 'normal' I feel on the roller coaster again!

We can be more choosey now, simply 'I don't feel ready for crowds yet' ......... I am already deciding who I really need to reconnect with too  ;)
