Depo injection question
« on: June 30, 2021, 10:26:35 AM »

Hi guys ,I'm new to this journey  they call perimenopause ,I've  got many symptoms  but the worst  and the ones getting to me most are the anxiety and  feeling something  awful is gonna happen  the tension in my neck and shoulders  and the lack of energy and Tiredness,  ,I've spoken to a gp  who wants me to stop my depo injection and have the myraina coil fitted which would serve as a contraceptive  and hrt ,however I have read many  awfull stories  about the coil and have decided that I don't want it , does anyone have experience of  being  on the depo and being able to have another form of  hrt ? Or any other options  ? Many thanks for your time guys x

Hi.  What's 'depo' stand for, it's given as a steroid into joints usually called 'depo medrone'.

Have a look-C at the 'mirena' threads on the Forum ...............

Hi.   :welcomemm:

I used to have that injection every three months as my contraception, many moons ago, then I went for sterilisation instead.
Can’t help with the hrt bit with it tho.
But I know you can get provera as the progesterone component, so maybe it’s the same thing.

Good luck anyway, let us know how your getting on.

Xx

Tnx.  It's a mine field sometimes when products are given the same names, i.e. AI to me is artificial insemination.  Apparently now it means 'artificial intelligence'  :-\  ::)

What suits you is very individual so perhaps better not to take too much notice of horror stories. You can find similar stories about any hrt or contraception. There are other options for the progestogen but the mirena will do the birth control too which others won't. The other option would be a bcp that includes oestrogen. There's a long post qlaira that might be worth reading

Just circling back to this thread because I wish I had seen more stories like mine earlier. I was on Depo for years and at first, it seemed fine - easy, convenient, no periods. But over time, especially as I hit my 40s, things changed. I started having bone pain, mood swings, and what I thought were unrelated health issues.

Only after some digging did I realize that Depo might’ve been the cause. It was frustrating because I never got a proper warning from my provider. Eventually, I felt the need to talk to a lawyer - not because I wanted drama, but because I genuinely felt misled and wanted to know my rights. If anyone's in a similar situation, this legal overview really helped me understand what steps I could take.
