Itching

Evening ladies
Do any of you suffer from itching?
I’ve had this for ages now but more recently it’s getting worse.
It’s intermittent and - until recently- mainly at night as I go to bed. It affects my feet, legs and torso.
I’ve no rash although once I start scratching I go red and blotchy and the shower makes the redness worse too.
Once I start to scratch I can hardly stop. I’ve never known anything like it.
I’ve read that post menopause can cause itching and wondered if it was a common symptom? I use E45 shower gel but in all honesty it isn’t helping.
Thanks
Lynda

Yep. Low oestrogen levels may cause the body to dry out: inside and out. Skin, deep in the ears, scalp, heels, vagina ......... also muscles may become lax = aches and pains. Oh the joys ........... not.

Yes, afraid so. There is very little that helps other than HRT because it is due to oestrogen depletion. The back of my scalp gets very itchy and Philip Kingsley scalp shampoo helps a bit.
For me, the itchiness began about 2 years ago. Sea buckthorn helped for a while, but doesn't really resolve it.
Hope you find what works for you!

Thank you so much for your replies.
I'm not taking any HRT, I tried it a couple of years back and my blood pressure rocketed and it scared me - I had to come off it. I guess this itching is something I am going to have to try and put up with, along with my incessant hot sweats I feel a right red, sweaty, blotchy mess.
Thanks again for replying x

The itchy feelings can be relieved by a Very Good Scratch but it's better to find a good skin lotion. We use 'Nivea' or 'vaseline' hand cream in a yellow thingy. When mine is really bad I swallow an antihistamine tablet which fortunately isn't required often.

Yes CLKD a very good scratch does the trick but then I can't stop
I'm having to use a body lotion daily - I have got a bit lazy with that so maybe it will help a little.

Itching that breaks the skin may lead to infections.
Get that lotion on Girl, give it a good slather .........

Yes, Lynda07, I could literally have written your post myself … the itching is insane!
I usually only get it at night, but not every night and there doesn’t seem to be a particular reason or trigger for it. It starts on one area so I scratch but then it moves so I scratch some more until I’m literally scratching all over and it’s really hard to stop as when I do the itch is still there. I’ve tried to rub with my palm rather than scratch with nails as it’s less damaging to my skin but it’s also less effective at relieving the itch!
Eventually the itching seems to just stop as suddenly as it started and all is good again - until the next time.
At first I thought maybe it was a gnat bite but there was no mark or anything but when it started to happen more often I thought maybe something in the washing powder I use so Ive rewashed all bedding & clothes in several different powders but it still happens. I’ve tried taking antihistamine before bed too but that doesn’t seem to make any difference either.
Now I know it’s not just me and that I’m not imagining it that’s good to know and I’m now thinking this could actually be another symptom to add to my growing list! 🤷♀️

MagH.
I’m sorry to hear that you suffer like this too. Just as you said - I could have written your post. I find it really unusual that it’s normally only at night time, I’ve no idea what that is all about.

Using a good hand cream helps my skin. It amazes me how the itchy moves around
