Hi Ladies,

been feeling quite dreadful for a while now. I have now found a pattern, I get very teary, achey ( unable to walk well, pains in legs and arms ) feeling like life is not worth living, although logically I know it is, I cry , feel dizzy, sick and can't function. All seems to start around day 6 ish of the new pack of estrogen only tablet part of my cycle and I think may last for a week, but i am a bit confused at the moment.

I am starting to keep a diary, I thought it was a one off/ temporary Blip.

Not sure why it happens then? and why it has started to happen  as I did not have this before. I feel so confused and desperate. I cannot cope at at and feel ridiculous.

Is it the progesterone part of HRT, many find that they are unable to tolerate it.

Hi Perinowpost,
I am on Femosten 1/10 with an extra bit of estrogen every there day and have been for about 6 years. I am just at the end of my bleed. Never had this so bad before. I can't think straight.  Normally I am fine, just a bit knackered. I haven't been feeling great generally also.

My GP is clueless . I am not functioning at all well.

A couple of things spring to mind:

1) if you’re at the end of your bleed you’ll be in the progesterone withdrawal phase, that’s always the worst time for me (on my regime) as your receptors take a while to down regulate from the prog.

2) It may be that your own hormones are still cycling in the background, and this could have added to your symptoms.

There’s no easy answers I’m afraid but to just give yourself time and hope it settles as you come out of the prog withdrawal, and be kind to yourself and take it easy x

I really feel for you.I think I might be experiencing something similar. I am at the end of my bleed and usually my mood would be picking up (especially 3 days after stopping utrogestan).

I feel low and can’t work out why as I am taking really good care of myself.

Anyway, I know it sounds trite but ‘this too shall pass’.

Take extra good care of you. Much love Jo xxx

Hi ladies ,
 Thank you for your replies.
I haven't had this for years to this extent. I just felt a bit more tired before. It seems to have  increased conciderably. I don't know why I would feel like this after years of relative stability? It does not appear to be a one off.

I thought that once you had reached mid 50's you do not need so much estrogen? I am really not thinking clearly at all.

I cannot work out whether I need to increase or decrease, but I am on a low dose anyway. My sleep has gone down hill also. I slept well on the progesterone phase , but not any more.

Hi Mindfulmoomins,  I guess the only thing to do is try an increase and see what happens. I can't go on like this. I guess I must still be in peri? Or does the up and down still happen in post meno? Or is it becuase I may be in post meno and my body wants more estrogen?

Can't type either as fingers are all over the place. I have developed a painful jaw too.

Thanks Cookie25,

it can be very hard when you have no one you can talk to about your symptoms. Trying to navigate through when you are feeling dreadful is a nightmare. Every part of my body aches at the moment. I just hope it is a blip and improves soon.

I would try more oestrogen. I understand the ovaries do still function a bit post meno though not enough to produce a bleed so you may still have variations. Not sure why it starts at day 6, that's when I feel better post utro but your symptoms sound very similar to mine before I started hrt.

Hi Ladies thank you for taking the time to reply. X

I start my bleed at the beginning of the new pack and it ends about day 6/7 ish. And my emotional state starts about  day 4 or 5  ish. I would have thought it would be right after the progesterone stopped? Perhaps it takes a while to leave completely?  I thought my own hormones would have given up the ghost by now?
