AstraZeneca and night sweats
« on: June 11, 2021, 09:15:46 AM »

I would be very interested to know if any of you have experienced what I am going through after having both jabs of AstraZeneca. I am on Evorel Conti I started on it many years ago primarily for hot flushes and night sweats which I have had none.. but since having both my AZ jabs the night sweats have returned, I have heard that AZ can cause overheating? I would be most grateful to know if anyone else here is having any problems with this or worsening aching joints etc..

That is interesting, my teen daughter has just had her second Pfizer, as she is under 18, but she has been complaining about getting night sweats since the first one.

Hi Tinkerbell, from what info I have been gathering, it would appear that it is also causing women to have heavier periods shortly after their shots, it looks as though it is hormone related..

Do report any symptoms on the Yellow Card scheme, this is so new that any information can garner research so that we know much more.

Hi purple bee, I too use Evorel Conti . Ten days after having my first AZ vaccine in March  I noticed a few hot sweats but they disappeared again after a week or so. However, the joint and muscle aches I had previously suffered with before starting on hrt five years ago returned, along with anxiety and more frequent urination. This carried on until my second jab and again, ten days after this one I noticed a ramping up of the symptoms that had returned since my first shot. Along with those I noticed my bladder felt sore and under pressure and my insomnia returned.
According to my doctor I’m suffering from over active bladder due to my age and my age is why I’ve got the other symptoms. 😡 He wants to prescribe medication.
Anyway I’ve upped my hrt dosage for a few weeks to see what happens, so far it’s helping with the anxiety, insomnia, joint and muscle pains etc but my bladder is still a little “ off”. I’m taking ibuprofen and that seems to be helping with the urine urge and frequency.
I know my body and I was perfectly fine before having the vaccine,  so I’m convinced it’s caused my hrt patch to become less effective somehow. I’m just hoping things will regulate again in the near future.
COVID causes inflammation throughout the body and I’m wondering if the vaccine is causing a bit of inflammation of my bladder? No use asking my doctor as he won’t listen.

It may be that your hormones are over-riding the HRT.

As for bladder issues, do read the thread as well as the Vaginal Atrophy thread on the Forum.  You may well need localised 'vagifem' or 'ovestin'.

What an interesting thread.  I'd just posted for the first time yesterday and had not put 2 and 2 together than my night sweats, anxiety have increased since my first AZ jag.  I've also developed very achy joints over the last 4 - 6 weeks, and I've never had that before.  I wonder what evidence is being gathered about hormonal type side-effects from the AZ jag?  Also I'm due my second jag next week...  :-\

UPDATE - now post second jag - no further changes but no better night sweats or achy joints wise.  HRT increased but so far no changes to physical symptoms - just reported via Yellow card scheme.

You’ll have to let us know if your symptoms worsen or if you develop more after your second shot Valybobs.
So far I’ve only heard about research being done into younger women and the menstrual irregularities that some have experienced after the AZ vaccine... nothing about menopausal and post menopausal women on hrt. I have contacted Tim Spector from the Zoe COVID tracker app but whether anything is done remains to be seen.
Yes CLKD I am using Vagifem again as well, I just hope this is all a temporary glitch and things return to normal. This is one reason why I don’t want to change to another hrt regime right now.

From what I have been reading, it would seem that it is affecting women in different ways. I also 'know' my body and I have more aches and pains than usual, extremely fatigued and itchy sore eyes too. All these are listed as side effects. But the night sweats are a problem. I'm glad you have asked Tim Specter, I am a member of ZOE and they have done some amazing work. Please let me know if he replies.

This is interesting. I too have had a return of symptoms and started to get numerous hot flashes and was feeling that the HRT was no longer working as well. I had my 2nd vaccine 3 weeks ago and hadn't considered it could be related. Hopefully if it is, it will setlle for all of us.

Yes, but the thing is I haven’t needed it during  the five years I’ve been on the conti patches. It’s only since the symptoms have returned following vaccination that I’ve had to use Vagifem alongside the patch.
