Evorel 50 - period pain
« on: May 28, 2021, 05:44:58 PM »

Hi. I’m new on here and new to HRT.
Having “survived” peri on black cohosh and then soya isoflavones for 2 years, I was eventually beaten and joined the HRT patch club last Friday. I’ve been prescribed Evorel  sequi and have so far just been on Evorel 50 for a week. 2 days in and the sweats and hot flushes are gone.  However the period type pains are horrific, to the point I’ve taken the patch off today as painkillers aren’t working, in the hope this reduces until I can speak to my doctor. Has anyone else experienced this? ❤️

Yes I experienced this when first on HRT but painkillers did stop the pain and it settled after a few weeks.  Are you still having regular periods?

Hi Taz

Thanks so much for replying.

No I haven’t had a period for 6 months, hence being prescribed the sequi.
Debating cutting the patch in half but nervous given how much pain. Gutted because has been so wonderful be rid of the sweats etc and get a sleep for the first time in a long time xx

Hi Kaz1973

I have not long started on half patches and found my first month very crampy and bloating before my period but haven't suffered in month two. Maybe it complicates it further because you didn't know where your natural cycle was either?
I'd go for half patches and work up. Seems a shame to have to give up so soon when you were feeling other benefits. I think it may settle for you xxxxx

Hi Cookie25

My goodness you’ve no idea how powerful reading your message is. Thankyou so much. I’m so sorry you have suffered too, but you have given me some comfort that I’m not alone!  I hadn’t actually considered your point re not knowing where i would be in my natural cycle. What a great point!
Half patches it is then 😀.
Thankyou so so much xx

I briefly used Oestrogel and Utrogestan a few years ago. I had the period type pains when I started using them, but they wore off within a month or so.

Hi,shame I didn't see your post a few days ago as I wrote something similar on another thread !
I've been on Evorel Conti for just over 3 weeks and for the last few days have suffered horrendous cramps with bleeding.
Pain killers haven't covered it.
BUT I've felt calmer than I have done in a long time and like you my hot flushes are gone .
I decided today to cut the patch on half and see what happens.
I'm trying not to give up but it's hard when in pain .
It's not easy   :'(

It is tough for the first couple of months sometimes. Orba which painkillers were you using? It's concerning that these didn't have any effect on the cramps as usually painkillers plus a hot water bottle/heat pad does work. Could you have endo or a fibroid? Not sure if you've had any scans in the past.

I’m in the same boat. Evorel patches give me awful cramps and bleeding. I ripped off my patch last week and have made an appointment to see a menopause specialist as I wasn’t feeling that great on them anyway, but the cramps were the pits!

There have to be alternatives to all this surely, just a case of finding the right regime!

Hi Nas - did you try for the recommended three months? It is the only way of finding the right one for you as it takes that long to settle down.

Yes Taz. Been on them since September. First four months, no bleeding or cramps. January to present, bleeds and pain regularly. Evorel 75 and utrogestan. Hysteroscopy all clear, ovaries clear and smear clear. X
