39 perimenopause advice
« on: May 27, 2021, 11:36:33 AM »

Hi everyone,
I'm new but have been popping on the forums to have a read for a few months now.  I am 39 and started with perimenopause symptoms about 18 months ago, starting with anxiety attack from nowhere which then lead to health anxiety and ECG's to check my heart (all ok).
Whilst researching about my symptoms I came across perimenopause and thought I was too young but turns out I might not be.  So I bought a couple of menopause tests online, the first was a faint line but this month was a definite positive for menopause.  this explains lots of things, spotting, anxiety, dry eyes etc. but now I don't know what to do.
I'm concerned if I go to the GP I'll just get fobbed off with more anxiety medication (I'm not on anything at the minute, no pill after I had a bad experience with the Mirena coil). And also I'm feeling unsettled but manageable with my symptoms and am still having monthly periods.
I don't know whether I need to start HRT or my plan is to maybe carry on as long as I can until my symptoms become worse or maybe my periods start appearing less often?
Any advice would be great!
Thanks  :)

Hi!  :welcomemm:

Some find that keeping a mood/food/symptom diary to chart progress of use.  Decide which symptom U would like to ease first.

If your GP fobs you off, ask for a direct appt. for a menopause clinic.  MayB look at the Surgery website to C if there is a GP with specific internet in Womens' Health or have a chat with the Nurse Practitioner.

Browse round.  Make notes.  No lady is ever 'too young' for perimenopause!  Do read the 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy' threads. Make notes.

Hi Andie7,

Just wanted to say that at 39 yrs of age you are not too young.......I started with symptoms at 32/33 years of age and I am now 39 yrs of age. I too started with panic attacks anxiety which turned into general health anxiety. I feel I would be ok only for all the symptoms I've had.
What sort of experience did you have with the mirena coil?
The anxiety is the worst part too for me. Feel free to message me anytime you like should you like to talk. I hope things look up for you.
