HRT Perimenopause and doses
« on: May 16, 2021, 09:50:15 AM »

Hi All,

This is my first post… After 7 long years of symptoms and going to the doctors and spending an absolute fortune on herbal/holistic treatments, I finally found a doctor that would let me try HRT!!

I am on Sandrena 0.5, and for the first few weeks I was thinking yes! This is it I’ve found my magic medicine, libido came back, happy full of energy, acid reflux disappeared, night sweats stopped, symptoms nearly all subsided, however I am now starting month 3 and bam it’s all back again!

I contacted my doctor surgery and told them what was going on.. I also have sore boobs and occasionally have break through bleeding, I believe these are all common side effects, my mirena coil is due to be changed in a few weeks and I asked if it could be that?  She said that she doubted It and that I should half my dose??

I personally don’t think halving my dose is the best option, my doctors surgery is very uninformed regarding HRT, and I’m not sure her advise is the best?  Any of you had similar experiences? Xx

As your symptoms have returned I think you need more oestrogen not less.

Maybe after 3 months your body's tolerance has adjusted, so I agree with the other women that more oestrogen is likely needed, not less.

Fluctuations occur naturally with me as well so hrt is not a cure all, but overtime I have noticed a reduction in symptoms on the whole.

Yes I believe it's common to have to increase dose after a few months.
