I came across this forum and wondered if anyone can help ?

Have looked through a few posts and sorry if Im looking for help that has already been in the forum.

I've got VA which I was successfully using twice a week for the last couple of years.

It seems out of the blue I started having urinary symptoms, heavy sensation around my urethra, no difficulty passing urine but thought I had an infection. Also had some lower backache/pelvic pain. Treated with 3 days trimethoprim then 7 days nitrofurantoin. Did feel slightly better.
But then a few weeks after the symptoms reoccurred, was treated with same medication even though nothing picked up in urine.

I have have had bloods checked for cancer markers and thankfully nothing picked up. Bowel screening again nothing. Waiting for a pelvic scan as a precaution.

I know deep down that it is menopausal VA but I cant seem to get any relief.

I take daily vagifem and occasionally use ovestin though I felt it made the feeling worse.

I have tried Yes VM internally and using Olive&Bee cream outside but nothing seems to help.

I am suffering today because I sat in the car for a few hours yesterday and my jeans were a bit snug and this seems to have sent it off the scale !! I can hardly sit for long today.

Im on a low dose trimethoprim at night and currently on HRT patch 25mcg.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions, I cant believe how low I feel about it.

You are OK where you are!

Have your urine samples been sent to a Lab to see if you require antibiotic therapy?  Vaginal atrophy - threads here to read, make notes  - mimics repeated urine infection-type symptoms really really well!

Ring your GP and ask for appropriate VA treatment: if 'vagifem' isn't helping as it's such a small amount of active ingredient, try 'ovestin' inside and out, the idea being to insert nightly for 2-3 weeks.  To ease the need2P I take 'nurofen' regularly.

Sitting won't help if the area is sore.  Don't stop using it, initially the product may sting!

My samples did go to Lab and 1st one had mixed growth and 2nd sample nothing grew.

Will try the ovestin again

MayB squeeze some onto the finger and rub gently round the labia and outer area of the vagina.  Then insert the applicator as far up as is comfy.  The idea is to plump up the tissue ...... let us know how you get on.

It did go through my mind.
My backache has mostly resolved now.
It does feel a bit like something swollen at times, will give the ovestin another try and if no better will go back to GP
