Random pains
« on: May 07, 2021, 04:25:29 PM »

Hello everyone

I posted last year and everyone was very nice and helpful, I’m still struggling with symptoms which I assume is connected to my hormones. I am 47, periods still regular but maybe 26/27 days instead of 31, but I am spotting more throughout the month etc.  I have hot flushes and chills like frozen chills, internal shakiness and other random symptoms. But does anyone have random pains I had stabbing pains in right back rib area for two days before period gone now then I would have kidney ache, side pain, back pain. These pains all last a few seconds then gone do not last long.  I should add I have had ultrasounds, pelvic and abdomen ct scan last year and nothing also urinalysis about 4 times etc.  They can also not appear for a good few months too, sometimes around my period I would get one of the pains and then a big hot flush 🥵

Anyone else and thank you

As oestrogen levels drop off so muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Also: how we sit, sleep, walk can impact on the various muscles so we get jabs of pain.  Is it bad enough to take pain relief?

Do U keep a mood/food/symptom diary?

I’m post meno and get random pains; can be anywhere. Trouble with me is, l suffer with health anxiety and fixate on the pain and imagine it’s something serious, then it lingers until something else comes along. CKLD is quite right about low oestrogen levels; they do cause aches and pains.

Health anxiety is awful.  It gets the brain going on a track of it's own, which wastes so much time!

Me, me, me, I get rib that will be bad for a couple of months. Left, right, side, middle, back. Short stabbing pains?

Been to my doctor many times and she can’t tell me why. The last time I saw her I asked her if I could have a ultrasound. She didn’t believe anything was wrong but agree to let me have one. And they found nothing.

This has been happening for a couple of years now, and comes and go, and no one can tell me why.

Thank you for your comments everyone.   The pains are short usually which means by the time I think of the pain killers etc it’s gone. Health anxiety is awful it truly is constantly worrying about something while trying to get on with your life.
Sorry to hear you have the same problems, Lyncola do you find the pains are cycle related I’m not sure yet, and do you get them anywhere else like kidney area.

Thanks again

I would say no to cycle related, because when I get them for about two to three months it’s usually every day. But it does go up and down and every day is different. I do get them around my kidney area too. But I feel the pain is more on the outside like my muscles and not a deep internal pain.

MayB check your foot wear, how you sit at your computer, mattress wear - sometimes simply measures can help those sudden sharp pains.  I have had various sorts of them for years, makes me go 'oh!' but gone!  Bothersome.

The random pains that are driving me crazy at the moment is my face. Had it earlier last year, but went away for a couple of months, but I’ve had this since October.

Had a scan on my head, many doctors appointments and seen a ENT specialist, who now sending me back to my doctor as the medication he prescribed has failed and he needs her to prescribe another medication.

My pain is headaches and facial pain and jaw pain. Can be anywhere, can be short and sweet or longer. The newest thing as I type this as I was eating  dinner I got a stabbing pain in my jaw/cheek. And I still got the pain two hours after, could be a pinch nerve?

So other all my menopausal and health problems that (I’m 47 this year)  I will stop working at the end of the year, if I make it that long.

Hi Lyncola, Did anyone mention Temporal Mandibula Joint Syndrome?  I've had that before, very painful.

No marge, I don’t think anyone has mentioned that before. And I wouldn’t say my pains are very painful. Just bad enough to bother me, I’ve managed the last three days with no medication at all. I find if I’m resting it’s a lot better. So I’m mainly fine at night. Gets more uncomfortable when I work as I’m constantly moving. I’ve got my doctor appointment on Monday, and see what she says and what the next steps with the letter for ENT specialist.

I get all sorts of pains too! Some stay for ages and some are here and gone in the flash.

I currently have had a headache, like a band around my head, for the last 2 weeks. I’ve spoken to 2 doctors, pharmacist and others who all say it’s a tension headache related to menopause which I know. Trouble is my health anxiety then goes into overdrive and imagines all sort terminal illnesses going on...

I often have pain around my ribs which isn’t sharp just an uncomfortable feeling.
