Menopause etc
« on: May 04, 2021, 11:25:08 AM »

Hi everyone, hope you are all well. I have a question about remedies for hut flushes.  I was forced into the menopause due to chemotherapy 10 years ago. I can't take HRT because of the cancer issue and wonder if some of the natural remedies would be okay to take or if anyone has tried them? The night flushes are actually horrendous and majorly impact on my sleep causing depression etc. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. Linda x

Morning.  It will depend on which type of cancer you were treated for?  There is a field of thought that quality of Life is worth the risk as well as a Consultant who believes that although ladies have been treated for breast disease, that HRT under supervision helps.

Sorry can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Thank you for reply.  Ok, I will try to find out more about this from my GP although they have tried me on a tablet (can't remember it right now) which didn't help at all.  I am still taking Letrizole for my issue.  It was breast cancer that I had. I was just hoping for some kind of natural product that would be a safe bet... clutching at straws perhaps.  ;)

Sorry I had to dash for lunch = pizza. Back now ;-)

Some find alternates help until their hormones kick in.  Also, some alternatives may be contraindicative of any chemo-therapy.  I had 'tamoxifen' which almost killed me  :-\ .  That was in 1996.

Maybe keep a mood/food/symptom diary 2 chart progress.

No problem  :)
I was on Tamoxifen as well and, it wasn't good.... if it hadn't been for a group session at Maggie's I wouldn't have known that it could cause quite bad depression.  As always I just thought it was me.....  ::)

I hope you are doing good now.....

Yep.   :thankyou:  I'm the sort of person who I thought would look at the scars every night and think "I've had breast treatment".  Nope.  Still here!
