Hi,

Appreciate any views on when night sweats might stop? Started meno at 45.  I’m now 54 & had to come off HRT (after trying many different types & being under a consultant) as it was causing me to retain too much water, badly affecting my joints & blood pressure was too high.  Mostly been OK, however after 2 months the night sweats are becoming  unbearable & getting very little sleep, taking good meno supplements but they have a limited effect.  Have tried the bedding advice etc - just interested in others experience to see if there is hope on the horizon!  I’m still taking Ovestin nightly

Hi Nairn, I suffer night sweats too,sometimes they're worse than others,they don't tend to wake me as much now but I have an air con unit in my bedroom AND a fan by my bed,so when I feel a sweat coming on,it's off with the duvet,til I cool down,I'm 57 and have suffered these for years but it's a case of how long is a piece of string,could last a year or two,could last a month or two,I've tried every supplement but none work sadly,think it's only HRT that helps but like you I'm not on that either,drink plenty water so you don't dehydrate.

Everyone is different but don’t be fooled by statistics that say menopausal symptoms only last a few years. That only applies to the lucky! I’m 71 and have been having hot sweats for 17 years AND I’m on patch HRT! My sister is in her 80s and still gets them.

Is it to do with poorer ability to regulate temperature which hormones can better support?

I had the sweats several times a week for 2 years after the meno - now once or twice a month and I'm 3.5 years post.
