« on: April 09, 2021, 09:17:31 AM »

Hi I live in North east and really struggling to get help or find someone to understand what I'm going through. Under a Dr @ Newcastle but seem to be getting nowhere and told need AD's. My symptoms are taking over my life and see no end to this! Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Hi Nicky
Sorry you are feeling so rough...it's a shower isn't it?

Lots of lovely ladies on here who have helped me loads, especially with what to ask my GP (I am lucky and he's very open to suggestions and working together on things). A quick search under Newcastle using the "Find a Specialist" tab at the top of the page brings up one British Menopause Society Specialist. There is also Dr Currie on here and Dr Louise Newson, who I believe can offer you virtual appointments (I think that's how most are working right now).

Whats the worst symptom you are struggling with?

Hi! GPs reach for ADs - it really does depend on what the patient presents with.  Not many think that symptoms might be peri-menopause.

How old are you?  MayB keep a mood/food/symptom diary.  You can chart progress.

:welcomemm:  no query is silly nor OTTT ;-). ask away!

Hi Nicky, I’m also in Newcastle, live in Gosforth. My experience has varied with GP’s but since finding this forum and doing mountains of my own research I now go armed with information and tell them what I want to try. I have an incredibly positive experience with LIVI last week as my GP practice offers this service. The GP I spoke to had a history in supporting women with HRT and was brilliant. They got me a blood test later that day and organised a scan. Let’s keep in touch on here as I’ve also been through in the mill for many years xxx

It's about sharing experiences, taking what we need at that particular moment and shelving other suggestions, on an 'in case' basis.
