Shaking
« on: March 28, 2021, 03:58:12 PM »

Hi all
I'm 5 years into perimenopause with many symptoms but last night I had a new one which scared me.
I dozed of then woke up sd started shaking. I couldn't stop, lasted about a minute then went but came back again for another minute. I felt really cold too. It was so weird. The only thing that I'd done yesterday was have a few drinks plus I'm on my period. I feel fine otherwise,  no temperature. Could this be linked to hormones?

Hi there, yes,it could be hormonal, there's a fair few of us on here who get the shakes or a buzzing feeling in the legs too,I actually had the shakes yesterday funnily enough but I'm used to them now and once you realise that they will pass,it stops scaring you quite as much. Also adrenaline surges can cause this, again all par for the course x

Hi there
Thats what it felt like, an adrenaline surge. I've always the blood sugar drop shakes but this was different.
Can I ask you what your shaking feels like?

I've also wondered about this being the reason. Has really scared me.

Sometimes when we wake suddenly we can feel in-between and not awake at all.  Add to that cortisol hormone which can stimulate adrenaline which can start the shaking.  Although normal it's an awful feeling.

Thank you, puts my mind at rest a bit. Yes very frightening, convinced myself I was having a seizure but so silly. I felt really cold with it too.

Nothing is silly but 1 does get used to these strange feelings  :-\.  Make sure that you keep well hydrated and eat regularly.

That's what we're all here for my lovely,my shaking is just that,my whole body is trembling but it passes,if I sit down but if it happens through the night I shift position or sit up for a minute, like clkd says,it's usually cortisol or if through the day,can be your sugar levels good excuse to eat a choccy biscuit   :D

Thank you so much. I have no female relatives to ask so this forum is a lifeline for me. I'll try that if it happens again.

One more question, do you find they happen at certain times of the month?

I used to get internal vibrations especially when resting. Really frightening I haven't had them for a long time. Post Meno but other symptoms come and go. Doctor didn't know either....hope this helps that a few had experienced this.

Hiya

Alcohol is very high histamine, histamine and estrogen go around on a loop, I get high histamine shaking symptoms as my period approaches, and it's terrible during my bleed, you might find the alcohol (partic if it was especially high histamine alcohol like wine) tipped it to flooding point.  Shaking and vibrating is currently my crippling symptom, along with debilitating exhaustion.
