Same as you, just on vagifem, I too had a very uncomfortable experience with it,didn't seem to be helping at all, came off it and of course got all the other symptoms back,so reloaded for the two weeks and this time round I'm fine but I take it every other day, instead of just twice a week,it may be that you need to take it more often,I know some ladies on here use it every day,it's quite safe to do so as it's a very low topical dose,if you don't want to wait to speak to the dr,call your pharmacist, let us know how you get on x

Was the thrush diagnosed by a vaginal swab?

VA can cause similar symptoms.  If 'vagifem' doesn't help, swap for 'ovestin'.  Same idea, using every night for 2-3 weeks, then as necessary.  Some require 'vagifem' nightly as it's such a small amount of active ingredient.  The fillers can cause irritation though.

Do U have KY Jelly to hand, if so put a little amount into the vagina a few times a day to keep the area moist.  Dryness = itching.

4 me it was like razor blades  :o up there  >:( and my GP gave me pessaries for 8 months which were discontinued: due to lack of demand : now 'ovestin'.  It's about keeping inside and out moist enough to stop the lips getting stuck which impacts all the way up the vaginal tract.

Some find a dilator of use too, to insert gradually further and further to encourage muscles to 'work'.  Keep away from 'replens' as there are fillers in the compound which may cause irritation.

Do you have a cheesy discharge which smells fishy, chaceteristic of thrush.  When I stopped The Pill I had my 1st attack of thrush, an itch so high up that I couldn't reach to scratch.  I was given a pessary by the Gyane Registerstra but can't remember what - that was in 1981.

If you have a need2P feeling, take some 'nurofen' or similar regularly.

Hope you can understand my message. I feel as thou my gp dosnt know what to do. It has really crippled my mental health. I have felt suicidal. The mental health team has been involved. The problem is I have tender breasts. Mammogram and scan fine just calcification and I don't think they want me on hrt. Keep getting refused. I asked for a patch cos they did put me on kilovance lasted 24 days and it burnt my lady bits x

Sounds like you've been back and forth with a few things in quite a short period of time. It may be that the vaginal flora doesn't know what's happening to it and rebelling. How would it be to try natural yoghurt for a while and maybe taking something to help with rebalancing the flora? I'm sure folk will be along to suggest methods for that, but meantime you'll find the yoghurt soothing and neutralising. Good luck!

The discharge could be fillers in Vagifem.  You may need more than 2x a week.  I use 5x a week just to keep burning at bay.  Also Vagifem takes A LONG time to work.  I think some ladies think it will work immediately.  For me, it took close to a year and I still have problems sitting.
Keep on with it.  I think Thrush is one of the side effects of Vagifem INITIALLY but once your body gets used to the estrogen, you might find all is good.

Hope you get it sorted soon.  It is a brutal side of menopause.

It's new to us all  ::).

I would give the 'vagifem' a try.  Putting it in at a different time to the thrush treatment, i.e. if you put that in the morning, then use 'vagifem' at night.  Use the latter every night for 2-3 weeks.

It can be a nuisance until symptoms are under control.

LIVE yoghurt is a good idea, eaten and applied.  Make sure it is Live as 'natural' isn't always.  I use Greek yoghurt when ever I have thrush or prior to elective surgery.  Several spoon fulls each day and lay on a bath towel and apply gently in2 the vagina.  It has helped me until I was prescribed 'ovestin'.

As clkd says,it may not be thrush but just typical VA symptoms, I had a swab done and it came back as thrush and doc said to still take the vagifem. Have you tried ph balance pessaries? They are also a great help

I have used Vagifem whilst suffering with thrush, thanks to 11 weeks of antibiotics for breast infection.

It could be VA though as i kept getting fobbed off by GP saying i has thrush but it was VA as swabs came back negative.

I am same age as you, i use Vagifem every day, i would do a two week reload and then up your week maintenance dose.
