I had a sudden onset of vaginal atrophy about two,weeks after my partner did suddenly last November
Wow what a chronic condition
Was prescribed vagifem but had horrible side effects for me- I persevered for a while but have given up

it seems to come in waves but never always go. I most often wake up feeling great - no discomfort but as the day wears on it gets worse and worse 
I don’t have ant itching or urinating problems just complete discomfort accompanied by what I can only describe as pubic/ lower abdomen discomfort

Anyone else find this ?

Gets worse if I feel stressed too !

So sorry about your sudden bereavement!  Stress can make hormonal upheaval much worse.

What were the side effects of 'vagifem'?   I use 'ovestin' without problems, the idea is to insert it every night for 2- 3 weeks then twice a week.  When symptoms niggle I am aware of it beneath my belly button so I swallow 2 'nurofen' 3 times a day.

Are you able to explain where you are in your menopause, i.e. last monthly period, exercise regime, diet .......

I am 57 post menopause 3 years and up to now was sailing through bar hot flushes
Vagifem gave me really bad stomach cramps, back ache and made me feel,really down in the dumps

Am back to see my specialist after Easter am very active outdoor person with 3horses dogs and work am usually glass half full person but this can really make me feel glass half empty

Try 'ovestin' instead.  Don't let this condition get worse !

3 horses ? Gosh ! That's a lot of hard work in itself - but fabulously rewarding I'm sure. Was on my bucket list but never managed it. Well.done you c

Some ladies do have similar side effects for the first few days with 'vagifem'.  Over the counter pain relief often helps and effects go away after a short while.

Its normal to get these cramps etc in the first few weeks but it does settle. You can use both vagifem for inside and ovestin for the outside, this works for me, so dont give in too soon.

If you have a lubricant, i.e. KY Jelly, put a little into the vagina for a few nights then try the 'vagifem'.  Inserted slightly into the vagina for 2 nights then gradually further up - this will plump up the tissues and as they take up the product, the cramps should dimminish. [sp]
