HRT in Spain
« on: March 20, 2021, 05:12:16 PM »

Are there any members who have experience of getting on HRT in Spain, or have spoken to a good Spanish menopause expert?

I've been here (husband Spanish) for 10 years now, am 44 and periods stopped 2 years ago, so early menopausal.

Seen gyno who said i have very low/non-existent oestrogen levels and put me on Qlaira birth control. He seemed very keen on these particular pills and told me he prescribes it to everyone, before even going into my symptoms, which makes me a bit worried and sceptical. From what i have ascertained here on this website and elsewhere online, this is not going to give me enough oestrogen (plus i'm sensitive to synthetic progesterone)

I'd love to know about proper HRT options available in Spain. Feels like a brick wall - Gyno said in Spain they can't prescribe oestrogen and separate Progesterone. Not sure whether this is true, or whether he just has limited knowledge of treatments.

I've tried to research menopause experts in my province, but there are only two i can find and neither has got back to me.

Has anyone come across a good menopause specialist in Spain (i'm in Cadiz, Andalusia, but happy to skype anywhere in Spain)? Or even a Spanish menopause specialist practicing in the UK, who understands what's available here?

Has anyone living in Spain been prescribed estrogen and separate non-synthetic progesterone?

I'm feeling pretty low, suddenly very homesick and desperate for some informed and independent advice. So any tips, recommendations are massively welcome! Thank you !!! :)

Hi!  MayB put "Qlaira" into the search box on the Forum, see what pops up?  It does sound familiar.  Make notes ;-)

Browse round.  I think that some ladies have lived or visited Spain so may have information.

In the meantime, do read the threads on 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy'  ;) - 4warned is 4armed.

Hi LionLioness. Just wondered whether you'd read the replies to your original thread as it's easy to lose track.

I'll say  :welcomemm: here as well  :)
