Just because I’ve got severe tinnitus and am wary of taking anything that will make it worse.  I’ve read on here that people have got it after starting HRT so it’s put me off.  I had been considering it. I’m not gonna completely dismiss it.  I’ll see how I get on with the topical stuff first.

Hi
Just wanted to say it's definitely worth trying Ovestin. I used the 0.01% Estriol a while back and it made things worse - lots of irritation and inflammation.

On being prescribed Ovestin recently I was wary, but it has been much better. You use a much smaller amount. I had some tolerable burning the first few times I used it but overall it has improved my comfort after 3 months. I was impatient for progress at the start but it seemed to be one step forwards and one step back for a couple of months. Only by the beginning of the third month did I notice more consistent good days.

I use it internally and externally every other night, alternating with YES VM.

Good luck.  :)

Hi TnToast, pleased to see you are getting on well with Ovestin and that things are improving.

I used not to be able to use Ovestin externally,  but was fine with the 0.01% estriol. Recently I tried Ovestin internally on non-Vagifem  nights and that went well, so last night I tried it externally for the first time in a long time. That was fine too. I feel oddly pleased with myself  ;D ;D.

Never ceases to amaze me how different we all are, and how much perseverance this takes.

Best wishes,

So after using vagifem for a week now I’m feeling worse.  Everywhere hurts.  It feels awful going for a wee and it’s sore even to just wipe myself.  I was 100% fine no symptoms at all last year on twice a week vagifem.  I got taken into hospital suddenly in December and missed a dose.  I noticed a niggle a week later and thought I was thrush.  It settled  and I forgot all about it until a couple of weeks ago this agony started.  Would missing a dose of vagifem have triggered this or is that just coincidence?  I just don’t understand why it’s so severe.  It hurts so much I can’t concentrate and just so depressed

Maybe you should be examined, and also swabbed for thrush.

I saw my gp last week.  She thought it better to have a look rather than a phone call.  She said it wasn’t thrush but it all looked a bit red.  I just a bit confused about it all.  I thought the vagifem was improving the tissues.  Is this overall soreness usual?  Do you think the missed dose has triggered this?
Thanks

Yes, it is usual. Two Vagifem a week isn't much, so I don't think missing one dose will have made that much difference. What else are you using, by way of moisturiser or emollient? You need something on the vulva.

I’ve been using the Yes VM every day for about a week now and daily vagifem.  There’s just no relief at all

Maybe an use emollient or barrier on the vulva rather than Yes VM for a while. Epaderm ointment is popular. You could still coat the Vagifem stick in VM if it makes it easier to insert.

Also, don't put the 'vagifem' in too far initially, lubricate from the outside in.
