confused
« on: January 11, 2021, 01:11:07 PM »

Last week I posted about my concerns over having a prolapsed womb. It was ok but I did have to have my mirena coil removed as it was misplaced and causing the pelvic pain.
As a result I am now on hrt tables (cyclical)which means I will have a bleed every month. I have been bleeding since the coil was removed over a week ago, is this normal?
I still feel a bit sore down below, is that normal?
When will I know if my periods have stopped naturally if I am having these withdrawal bleeds?

Sorry to sound so dim, but I am so confused by it all.

You're not dim - mayB put 'mirena coil' into the search box?  Make notes ;-)

Which tablets have been prescribed?

Hi Mandss

Depending where you are in menopause - removal of the coil causes reduction in progestogen which can trigger a bleed if your womb lining has built up at all. If you are peri-menopausal then this will happen. Also if the coil was misplaced surey the trauma and its removal could also cause bleeeding or spotting? Could this also have caused the soreness?

Once you start cyclical HRT you wil not know when your periods have stopped naturally because you are adding hormones so you can't know what your sporadic natural cycle will be doing. Do you need to know?

Please do not apologise - many of us start from low knowledge base and read and learn as we go - me included.

As always if you are concerned by the bleeding or soreness - do check with your doctor and they will likely give you a phone consultation.

Thanks H
I have been back to my GP, who has checked down below and thinks that the coil was sitting low for a while, and so has left some scar tissue. Hence the soreness. She has done a swab just in case, She was also unconcerned by the bleeding as it has now stopped. Thanks for the reply x
