I haven't used it but it seems you see a gp not a specialist and they give you a private prescription which will cost more than an NHS prescription. If you want your medication on the nhs it might be worth checking with your surgery if this is possible. They might accept the recommendation of a specialist but not another gp.

The advertisement says it will be a GP specially trained in menopause. That's more than you're likely to get on the NHS. I wonder if it means a GP with accreditation from the BMS.

That's right, it says you'll get a 45 min session with a GP specially trained in the menopause and they create a plan tailored to meet your needs. 3 months later you'll get another follow-up meeting and for a whole year you'll get support from trained Bupa nurses 24/7. For anyone who has Bupa, this is a new thing which is separate from the regular health insurance. Looks like it's £250 for the year.

It sounds a good idea. A separate insurance apart from other health conditions. Some single private appts can be as much as £250.00 each. Make sure it's per annum and not per month though! Is it a 1-off Premium payment?
I suppose that the NHS doesn't support specifically trained GPs ................

Yes, I think it is a one off payment and they can refer you to specialists or arrange prescriptions for you. It would probably work nicely if you have Bupa insurance I guess.

Just wondering if anybody has used the Bupa plan yet and if so, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I spoke to who I thought was a menopause specialist recently (waited many months after a referral) but she was a huge disappointment and told me to use herbal remedies. The only useful thing I got out of her was a testosterone prescription (which I had to ask for) after telling her that my GP cannot prescribe it for me and that she could...she was wondering why my GP wasn't prescribing it...I had to tell her that GPs cannot prescribe testosterone....At that point I knew I wasn't going to get anything out of this appointment. She must've been a gynae as she definitely was no menopause expert. She may have even been a trainee as she said she would ask her superiors! This is why I now need to go private.

Perhaps try the BMS website to find a meno specialist?

I note you have to pay for anything additional outwith the three month period when the second consultation and prescription happens. That's the downside if I've read it correctly, also no bloods. Otherwise, a really good plan and free access to trained nurses 24/7.
