M.E. and post-menopause
« on: December 23, 2020, 09:57:16 AM »

Hi,
I wonder if anyone in postmenopause also, like me, has M.E.? I also have quite marked Adrenal Fatigue. I'm curious to know if these conditions make postmenopause more complicated for folk and, if so, in what ways? Has anything helped you in terms of therapies, supplements, treatment?
Thanks!

Morning.  Maybe put "M E" into the search box to see if there are threads?

Make notes  ;).  Let us know how you get on.

Wow. Thank you. It  can get pretty exhausting trying to process too much information!
It's MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS.....bit of a mouthful. CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME might do it, too.

Hi! 'chronic fatigue syndrome' showed several related threads ;-).

It is tiring trying to find 'stuff'.  Sometimes we have too much access to 'stuff'  ::)

NHS Web-site

Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a long-term illness with a wide range of symptoms. The most common symptom is extreme tiredness.

CFS is also known as ME, which stands for myalgic encephalomyelitis. Many people refer to the condition as CFS/ME.

CFS/ME can affect anyone, including children. It's more common in women, and tends to develop between your mid-20s and mid-40s.

Nope. It's a massively neglected aspect of a condition that's massively neglected anyway. Thanks for trying! Someone might come forward yet.

Hi I was diagnosed with M.E / CFS .... but a few years later realised that it was a mis diagnosis. All my symptoms were due to menopause. Once on the right dose of HRT, the symptoms disappeared. X

Hi I suffered terribly and went through lots of tests and treatments for ME / CFS. I had an awful few years. The doctors just told me that I’d have to put up with it. It wasn’t until I saw a private meno specialist that he told me that the symptoms were menopause / lack of oestrogen. I’d already worked that out for myself and it was so good to hear someone else agree with me. X

I'm sorry you had that experience of mis-diagnosis. I can see how certain aspects might run along similar routes. Adrenal Fatigue has a lot of comparable symptoms, too. It can be very difficult being on the receiving end of dismissiveness. I hope you're on the right track now. x
