Ooh Hoojameflip is great, love that one it’s always very useful. Thingummybob also good. Gubbins is a collective one that always comes in handy too. Honestly sometimes I wonder why I even try communicating. Sometimes in conversation I have trouble regulating myself too, and have to constantly remind myself to slow down. Listening is becoming something I’m working harder at as I get older. I’d like to be thought if as a good listener.

I hope someone can help reassure me. I’m so worried. I am 56 and on HRT. This morning I was cleaning the house and went to put something in the bin and for a few seconds I couldn’t think where the bin was. I literally went through cupboards my mind then suddenly knew where it was. I panicked and now I’m thinking it’s early onset Alzheimer’s. I mean who forgets where something in their kitchen is. I understand the whole loosing keys etc but this was different. My mind just went blank and scrambled to remember.

It happens to me occasionally.

The classic one was standing in front of the open fridge with a load of dirty laundry.  Took a second or two before I realised it wasn't the washing machine. 🤔🙄

Thanks for replying. My husband says it’s nothing to worry about and doesn’t see the problem but I can’t let it go. The panic it has sent through me😟
It was just the scrambling of trying to think of where the bin was.
I had just put some banana skin in the recycling bin (on another side of kitchen) then moved to put away the other rubbish and I literally couldn’t think for a second. 😟 I really do appreciate your replying to me - thanks again x

I call it brain freeze.

I think we lose some focus, post meno.  I really have to do only one thing at a time now.  Lists are vital, otherwise I forgot some important stuff that has to be done.

Stress also doesn't help.

Yes it was just like my brain froze. I suffer with health anxiety so I know that I interpret these sorts of things as worst case…
However, I also know that having HA, doesn’t make me immune to illnesses.

It's a conundrum, isn't it.

Most of the time my rational brain is in control,  but other times it takes me ages to talk myself out of whatever unlikely situation my brain has invented.

Yes it totally is. I find it very hard to snap out of the fear once it’s settled.

The majority of the times I do something stupid it's because I'm trying to do 3 things at once. Running around trying to finish one job whilst already focusing on the next. Men don't seen to do that  :-X ;D

Oh I'm always on the 'go' and begin 1 chore then notice something else that requires doing so that 1st gets put 2 one side  ::) and if I can't be bothered to clear up behind me, I build piles and guess, the 1 item that I want will be at the very bottom!
