Hi everyone
I took my first dose today . Really nervous as I have been on Anti d medication for years and concerned my HRT may cause mood changes - hopefully it will make me feel amazing :-) So yes, hello from a scared 47 year old

Hi Nina,
I only recently started HRT at 38 yrs of age. I started mirena coil last week and estrogen patches last night so hoping to feel better soon. Just wanted to wish you luck with yours. What one are you starting?

Hello NinaCB and welcome to the forum.
I am a lot older than you and a veteran of this 'journey' but I am still nervous because I have just restarted HRT.
We all have the same concerns when it comes to trying to feel better so you are not alone. Thankfully you now have the lovely ladies on this forum to support you.
Wishing you well and keep posting.

Thank you fo r all the lovely replies.
Mirena goes in in January and the lovely doc put me on femoston until the coil is in then she says she will swap it over . Im luckily in control of anxiety and depression with my meds for that . I live a hermit lifestyle at the best of times and dont drink and am quite healthy and fit but OMG do I feel like sh1t these days with the worst raging hormonal rollercoasters I have ever had x
How long doe you ladies think it may take to feel some effects ?

Hi nina. I started femoston 10 days ago... Very scared too.
I am considering mirena, but am scared about pernenancy of it. I like trialling this first as I'll get 2 weeks without prog, so see how I react to the increase in estrogen.
Are u starting fenoston 1/10. Or 2/10? I'm on 1/10. Good luck. Love to follow how it goes for u. X

Hi! I don't see why HRT would interact with established medication regime.
Some ladies find it helpful to keep a mood/food/symptom diary.
browse round. Make notes.

CLKD weight gain scares me the most - I have spent many years in a recovery from eating disorders . The other thing is the fear of hormones . I prescribe them (vet) but have never taken the pill as I never felt comfortable with it .. i guess I am a bit of a wuss. I have overcome most of my depression and anxiety after years of working through meds and CBT and stopping drinking and the equilibium is such a relief. I guess I am just scared. I have felt like the mood swings are way worse than any depression though and that they are something "other" than mental heath and have a good understanding of the physiology and pharmacology etc but I am still shitting it ! Oh and my gran ended up (in the 70s ) being sectioned in her menopause years as she was so anxious and depressed so the family legend terrifies me . She actually just needed support and love I think but they were such different times :-(
