I didn’t have the dry mouth or mucous issues but just wanted to say my hair began shedding on vagifem despite it being a really low dose and my gynae saying he had never known that to happen before. But I came off and it ceased. So it was the Vagifem. So if you think it was that it may well have been! I hope things ease for you x

Interesting: was it a loss of hair all over: eyebrows, eyelashes, hairy legs, pubic hair ............ the products aren't supposed to migrate  :-\

It was just on my head. Thankfully I have thick hair. But it did come out in clumps and every day. So despite it being a local treatment it must effect some people in a variety of different ways in different body parts. I had the same with Oestrogel. I wish oestrogen had the opposite effect like it does with most people’s hair!

Did U fill in a yellow card for each product?  I wasn't aware of this reporting system until recently.

I did for the oestrogel. I haven’t for the vagifem so thanks for the reminder. I only knew about it when on oestrogel and it got changed to Oestrodose and my mood plummeted to v dark levels overnight so I filled one in for that. Worth doing.

Well, after having no signs of Sjogrens, and a visit to the dentist, I decided to stop all medication, including Vagifem. I stopped one thing at a time with vagifem being the last. That was 5 weeks ago.
At the moment, I've only got the dehydrated lip problem rather than the excessive saliva. However, I've started getting horrid night sweats in the past week. I used to get them a lot but can't remember whether that was only pre-vagifem or not! I can't remember when I last had them and whether vagifem stopped them!

Hi Rosie, I'm new hear so sorry if I have answered incorrectly (please let me know how). I had exactly what you describe, thick saliva which I was constantly swallowing and my lips were so dry they peeled non stop. I now believe this was simply my mouth and lip mucous membranes drying up. I had it for 10 months and it went on its own, it was horrible and I had a camera look down my throat to check all OK, it was. The only thing that helped the lips was organic shea butter, aside regularly. I still use it today. Don't put steroids on your lips, it made mine worse.

My hair fell out very noticeably on Vagifem initially. It's horrible but it does stop eventually. I read on here that if the tissues are thin, then the stuff migrates. Would make sense that this would stop once everything plumps up downstairs.

It's even listed as a side effect, IIRC.

As for oestrogel, it turned my hair to straw/brillo pad in texture. That's all stopped now I'm off it. Last summer I had a very short hair cut, expecting silky hair in good condition. What I got was the aforementioned straw. Just had similar hair cut and hair soft and silky. Weird, isn't it? Would have expected the opposite.

Having spoken to a consultant, they say it's most likely to be burning mouth syndrome which can be caused by menopause. Seems it's almost impossible to confirm and there's little in the way of treatment either, so I'm having to live with it!

Hi Roseview, I had burning mouth for a while. Got relief using Boots Expert Dry Mouthspray 50ml.
Give it a go, might help😀👍
