I took my last box of BCP last month , had my last period on the BCP 5 weeks ago and then I stopped taking them. I was taking Trinessa ( which is a triphasic pill ) for 20 years . I'm 52 years old .
Now I'm "waiting " to see where am I with menopause. I didn't have any bleeding since that last period - yet - ( I hope I would be a rare lucky one never to have it again ).
I know everyone is different , but I would like to hear some experiences. Thanks !

I came off at 49 and had five months without a period, :yipi: then nearly 18mths of periods, appx every 3 weeks. :sigh:  Then started on hrt.

I had a small prolapse op during the 5 months which highlighted genito urinary problems so have been using vagifem since then.

Have you had the blood work for the hormones ( FSH , etc. ) after you stopped the BCP ? I know it's not very reliable because hormones fluctuate a lot. You didn't want to get back on the BCP when you got your periods again? And why so long before you started HRT ?

No - I was given the progestogen only pill for contraception as I could no longer take the combined one (did not want a Mirena)  I lasted 12 weeks on that, then that GP left so I tried charting to see if I was ovulating and see if I could work out my cycle.  I thought my periods might have stopped soon as my grandmothers were 50 and 51  ;D

I saw another GP and asked for HRT as I was aching a lot.  She did not ask about periods or anything, and another GP did general bloods later on when I had a changed to another sort.

I have rarely been able to see the same GP more than a couple of times  because they keep leaving/retiring/had to change surgery/etc.

How are you doing now ? Does the HRT helps with your aches and other problems you may have ?
My mom stopped having her periods at 47-48 so I hope I'm done at 52. But my aunt stopped at 45 and still my niece ( her daughter ) still have her periods at 54. So I kind of don't believe  too much in that.

Sadly it has not stopped the aching - but it is worse without.

Vitamin D, magnesium and glucosamine help too.  And gentle frequent exercise.
