Ultrasound appointment
« on: October 10, 2020, 09:49:58 AM »

So my letter has just come with my appointment for next week, just as I've stopped norethisterone, so I'm likely to be in full flood by then. I'm also really scared what they'll find. I usually take these things in my stride but it's knocked me sick with fear.  I was hoping I'd get a good bleed before the appointment arrived so they could get a better picture of what's going on. If I am bleeding heavily by then do I reschedule?

Don't worry. They are more than used to carrying out a scan during a bleed. I've had two done during heavy bleeding. Sounds a bit embarrassing but it's something they deal with often so no need to put the scan off. Hope it goes well. Let us know!  :)

Hi Taz, thanks for that. I'm less worried about the embarrassment (I think we're used to it!) I'm more mindful of the fact I've read it gives a better picture if you're towards the end of a bleed or have just finished one. I'm also anxious anyway. I'm dreading what they night find.  Logically I know I stopped HRT in August so this could account for my heavy and extended bleed.

I had a trans vaginal scan last week. I have had 3 this year. Get worked up before all of them- who wouldn't?- embarrassment, fear of what they are going to find, fear of pain (even though it doesn't hurt it is just uncomfortable)
fear of what treatment comes next. All this makes it less than a walk in the park. I think it is normal to be scared. xxx

Yes, Machair. I agree.  I feel so low which doesn't help. The withdrawal bleed from norethisterone has started now and I'm dreading what it will be like, plus the doctors don't seem bothered about checking my iron levels which have been very low in the past  I have been taking supplements but can tell they're low. I was really hoping my appointment would come after this bleed.
