Estrogen dominance
« on: October 07, 2020, 04:14:04 PM »

Hi,

any ladies that increase their oestrogen and had side effects? what were they please? Trying to determine if Im past optimal levels. Feel like Im constantly got groin/top of bum ache(only one side though). Bit like a period pain but not totally. But don't want to reduce oestrogen in case this is related to s ar tissue and not oestrogen!
I do get bad anxiety tho if I go back to cyclic progesterone.
thanks Kelly

Hi Kelly-Louise. Sorry I can’t be more of a help but I struggle to know whether I am having too much or too little estrogen! Most people stay on one regime for 12 weeks. It is a long time but worth it when it works! Although I am yet to find the right balance I’m hopeful that one day I will ! Hopefully you will get some more replies soon

thanks for the reply. its so hard, the private clinic I went to just wants to keep upping it because of my age (41) when I tell them I feel crap or anxious. I went from 50 mg to 100mg on cyclic protestor and was anxious all the time they said it was too low oestrogen! but I didn't have it on 50 as much. when I add 100mg progesterone the anxiety lessens but I get other aces and pains So Ive no idea haha x

It’s a minefield isn’t it? I have upped to 5 sachets of Sandrena over the last 2 days no different at the moment still very anxious and generally feeling rubbish! When will this end! It’s having such an impact on my life! Still waiting for specialist to reply to my email I sent last Friday :(

Hi
Until recently I was using Elleste 80
Patch and three pumps of gel - felt terrible all the time and private clinic kept upping it too!
Cut back to patch and one pump and feel much better now. Also using Provera 10mg daily.
The symptoms of too much oestrogen are the same as too little so it’s a bit hit and miss!

Hi Nik2502
That’s really interesting as I too have often wondered that although my blood test results always come back way too low, do I actually need to reduce! Not getting anywhere increasing which is very frustrating especially  when they like you to try it for 12 weeks each time! I have had the coil fitted which has had no effect side effects wise which is really as I was dreading it! Think they may be my next step to try and reduce
Thank you for input

I was going to get bloods to see but like you said maybe it won't help. I just wanted the levels to be high enough to protect my bones. Private clinics seem to think higher oestrogen solves all the problems but Im not sure. My nurse has referred me again to see another specialist so Im hoping to get some help. My gut feeling is I need to lower a bit. My hair is thin too - I thought upping would make it thicker - everyone says when your pregnant oestrogen is high and its the only time mine was nice! Feel like going up  ;D x

I’ve struggled here as well. I was 43 and struggling with the too much or too little issue, not knowing where I was at. Using 4 pumps estrogel daily, although my OBGYN was not happy. I finally got her to agree to test my estradiol and it ended up being over 3000! Higher than the mid cycle peak of a fertile woman. As soon as I saw that, I stopped the gel entirely, because I expected a chastising phone call, and because I figured I had enough in my system for a while. I just wanted to stop everything and do a reset. I took the progesterone to have a bleed, and then nothing for a while. I felt fine. Really fine! At 6 weeks, I felt my tendonitis start to re-emerge and I wanted to nip that in the bud. I started back on a half pump of gel a day. That seemed fine. I was having some palpitations at the time as well, which is why I went back to the gel. I had a Mirena placed two weeks ago and I’ve increased the gel to 1 pump a day and I’m feeling fine; not sure if the extra half pump has made a difference either way.
So I also think that a you’re young, you need more estrogen approach is too broad of a stroke.

That sounds A positive story although my bloods came back at 356 on 4mg Sandrena so definitely a poor absorber. It has been suggested I try a patch again to see if this helps! Maybe starting at a low dose!

Thats helpful thanks, yeah I agree, its not individualised enough. I've seen my GP tonight she was really lovely, checking my progesterone and oestrogen levels. Then will take it from there x
