Thank you HRT!
« on: October 04, 2020, 06:59:46 AM »

Well, it's been a month on an hrt routine for me and things have just clicked into place this past few days.
I feel better than I have done in 20 years; my last symptom was insomnia and even that's disappeared these past 3 nights :)
I used to be really badly affected with anxiety, feelings of melancholy, dry skin, low libido and very low energy, and some night sweats and hot flushes periodically, but now I'm feeling much more like the old me, and I've been scared of even hoping for that honestly!
I'm also happy knowing I'm getting all the benefits and protective effects to my body that hrt has been shown to provide, i'm so thankful for whoever brought hrt into existence,  I feel as though I have my life back; I'm full of energy and my mind is calm and really in a good place :D ;D
I truly forced myself to expect good things and to give it a fair amount of time to see how things went, because I was desperate to get some relief from my crushing symptoms and I just can't say enough positive things about it now, I can't believe it's made such a difference.
So, my advice can only be to try it, have a positive mindset and see if it works for you, because it might just blow your mind! ; :D

So happy to hear a positive story and that HRT has worked for you! Obviously do not hear many positive things in the forum! You certainly are one of the lucky ones so well done you! My endless journey continues to be rubbish! Seriously thinking of reducing and see what happens? Thank you for sharing

Thanks so much! I hope i'm not one of the lucky ones, I hope that most women experience the same relief from their symptoms-I think youre right, we hear a lot of negative experiences on here so that can make us think that hrt only works for the few  :)
It's your journey and your menopause,  but I would advise trying to start over with another consultant, through a GP referral even, before I'd self-medicate or give up.  :)

It’s so great to hear that HRT has worked with your anxiety - did it really take 20 years  :'(??.  Just out of interest, I know you said a month - was that your first choice of HRT or did you have several?  I am only on week 3 on Evorel Conti and anxious waiting not to be anxious anymore - the constant tiredness is tiring  :'(

Hi Sed, no-my anxiety took 9 years to get over. I had CBT in that time, did meditation, yoga, dug into my faith, ate the right things etc, but the only thing that got rid of it 100pc is the DARE programme. It focuses on recovering, not on talking all the time about how anxious we feel. I would recommend it to anyone, apparently it's the world's bestselling programme and it's very inexpensive.  There's a book and an app, it's just brilliant. I fully recovered last Autumn and I would never go back. Hopefully hrt will help support me in that too. But do whatever it takes to get yourself feeling better, so things like diet, exercise, sleep etc all make such a huge difference.

Sorry, to answer the other part of your question, yes I had tried compounded hrt, very expensive and then I found out that it's not reliable so I stopped. That was 2 years ago, and I tried nothing else till last month. I had the Mirena fitted and started the 1mg Sandrena gel.

I’m waiting to hear from my specialist and to be honest if I feel uncomfortable with her Recommendation I will get a referral done with my own GP! You have given me hope though that it really can work! I was beginning to think it was only celebrities that popped a patch on them then led a wonderful life  😄
Can I ask Brit66 have you ever had bloods done for your levels or has it all been through symptoms? The one thing both my specialists have focused on is numbers and are hell bent on getting them above 500! Which they may be right about as when I started I was at about 170 and had most horrific anxiety insomnia and low mood! Just a thought about starting again to see where I’m at but worried it all may resume! I hate feeling the way I feel but at least I can manage day to day whereas before I couldn’t! Thank you for listening and well done again

Awww no, many 'ordinary' women get their lives back through hrt, that's why it's so popular  :) I'm so glad you're feeling more hopeful.
I have had blood taken but Dr. Currie told me that it's more about your symptoms,  especially when you're perimenopausal, whichI am. Obviously, there is a clear and direct link to anxiety and low hormone readings, we have the symptoms we do because we are running low on oestrogen,  so it makes sense. Same as when we hit puberty or during pregnancy, our hormones fluctuate. But the thing is, we don't go through menopause, we will always BE in menopause once we get there, so that's where hrt comes in.
So why do you have to start again? You are feeling benefits with hrt, so if you switch now, you won't lose them right? You are just moving sideways and hopefully upwards, not backwards, and keeping what you have already gained. I mean, your levels won't go back to zero because you try another type of hrt, or am I misunderstanding? If so, I'm sorry and please explain.
I really want to recommend an amazing Obgyn/gynae who has really helped me. She's called Menopause Taylor on YouTube and Facebook and she gives private consults. She's really intelligent and empathetic,  and has a whole list of videos explaining everything. Watch her, and see if things look better then ;)

PS I just checked my blood test results from June,  my Oestradiol serum level was 815.

Thanks so much for sharing with us Brit66, really pleased you’re feeling so well now. It’s so nice to read positive stories, gives us all such hope. I’m less than two weeks into my regime and hope to feel like you pretty soon!  :)

Thank you Brit66! What I mean is I am so worried about going backwards but you are so right I have better estrogen levels than last year! I feel I need more but surely I can’t increase the Sandrena to 5 so maybe a different route I just don’t know! Will check out your recommended gynae later on! Sounds promising and always open to suggestions! My levels have never gone above 356 so this is obviously still way too low as still have regular periods ( not sure about the future as have had the coil!) thanks again

Yes! You have to pursue your own health and well-being and her series is a real education, good luck with that! I really hope you find a delivery method that works well for you, let us know how you get on.
The Mirena can only make life simpler for most women :)

No, I didn't! I didn't realize that it could be hormone related. All we see in the media, until fairly recently,  is that the main symptoms of peri/meno pause, are hot flushes and night sweats,  irritability maybe,  but there's so much more than that, and I never got these until a couple jf months ago.
