Muscle ache
« on: September 07, 2020, 08:40:09 AM »

Hi can anyone advise?

Week 5 on evorel sequi 50 and still have muscle ache especially in my shoulders and arms - mornings are worse.  Could this have anything to do with the dosage?  Or do I have to push through to the 3 month marker?  Overall I have had more good days than bad on these patches and has stopped insomnia which makes days worse when it was happening.  My anxiety symptoms are still present but seem to manage those better by talking to myself and accepting it as anxiety. My Muscle aches haven’t moved.

I am sooooo so fed up - don’t know what to think   :'(

As oestrogen levels drop off so muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Do you take pain relief regularly?  Frozen shoulder is common during peri..  Keep gentle exercise of the shoulders, especially lifting the arms up as if lifting items off a high shelf.

Hi sed, does the pain change when you're on the combo patches?

Yes I suppose it does - it becomes more lower back period type pains.  I am on the second patch of the second month and as last month, aches can be quite troublesome  :'(

This also triggers my anxiety which brings along with it it’s own symptoms.  Just feel as though I go round and round waiting for this patch to do its job!

Have you taken pain relief which will ease symptoms?  As soon as I get sciatica, a head ache or facial pain, I take 'nurofen' which helps enormously.  Stops me with the 'what if' going round my head.

I had painful periods throughout my teens and there was little that eased that until 'feminax'.  I refuse to allow pain to take over otherwise I get queasy = panic attacks  :-\

Try pain relief when necessary.  Some find it helpful to keep a mood/food/symptom diary too.

Let us know how you get on?

Thank you CLKD - I will try painkillers.  Just so tired of these aches.  Drags me down.  Getting worried and then teary and then the breathlessness starts.

I have read that the evorel can give out side effects such as muscle aches but haven’t found anyone on here report on that which makes me wonder if I am on the right dose - could be I am expecting too much after 5 weeks.

5 weeks is early to decide if something is going to ease symptoms - the body doesn't usually get where it is in a hurry so may take a while for uptake to show benefit ;-)

Thank you. I suppose the lower back period type pains are normal whilst your body gets used to this regime. Maybe the shoulders/arms pain is related to anxiety? I have lots of pains and aches in the morning and I think they're probably the result of too much tension during sleep. Sometimes I have bruises on arms and thighs and they're exactly the shape of my fingertips pressing them hard during sleep.

I have aches in my neck going in2 the back of my head due to sleeping heavily.  Or not sleeping as the pains keep me awake  >:(

Tension can certainly make muscles ache.

Hi Uptick

Well :o since my last post I simply couldn’t cope any more with the estrogen only patches - it was the worst  :(.  I crashed on the second month with them - my symptoms were creeping back and felt I was back at Day 1.  I just took the patch off.

I made an appointment with a Meno consultant because I just feel GPs aren’t that knowledgeable at this....I went today and she has said I should go onto the Evorel Conti if I don’t mind not having a period or erratic periods (at first).  I don’t mind - weighed up with crashing experience I had on the sequi.  I am very scared I have to say - just want it to work so badly sometimes I think I set myself up!  Desperate to be me again.

She has said go away and fingers crossed 3 months things should settle with the muscle aches etc...just bought some Ibuleve Gel to rub into the problem areas.

Hope you are good?
