Taken the plunge
« on: August 20, 2020, 06:39:56 AM »

Just thought I would let you lovely ladies know that I have taken the plunge and am seeing a private gynaecologist tomorrow. Yes I have made progress, but over the past two weeks, I seem to have taken a step backwards with the burning, stinging and whole aggravation. Can't say I am looking forward  to this appointment but as my sister said, it is a great step forward. Apparently, the gynae is lovely. Hope there isn't too much probing to make my soreness worse. Just hope she can give me lots of advice. Will let you know how I get on.

Haven't posted in awhile but needed to respond Midnight.  You have had such a difficult road with VA.  Midnight, I've been on Vagifem for a full year and still have discomfort but much better than it was initially.  However the bad news is we seem to all get nasty flare ups.  We only wish there were much better AND PERMANENT options to eliminate this horrid problem.  Let's hope that your's is a flare up and nothing sinister.  VA is unrelenting!

Increase the 'vagifem' to nightly, some occasionally require two doses the same night to keep symptoms at bay.

Let us know how you get on!

Saw a wonderful  lady Gynaecologist last Friday who did a thorough examination. I was pleased to know there is no Lichens or anything sinister. She thought my skin looked very good. She advised me to use Sudocrem externally which I am now doing. It does sting a little, but perhaps my skin is getting used to it. Will persevere with that. She took the time to listen and dealt with me in a very professional, caring, knowledgeable and friendly manner. She also thought that  the HRT could take another 3 months to feel it's full effects.  The Gynaecologist said how common Vaginal Atrophy is  and she sees many women with the condition. Had 3 better days, but burning somewhat today. Fingers crossed it is short lived. Thank you all for your ongoing support.

I get private medical cover through work which is great and I have only used it a couple of times as it doesnt cover everything, but i always think that when you go private I feel less rushed and am made to feel like a person. Glad you got on OK .
