Estrogel v estrodose
« on: July 25, 2020, 08:26:38 PM »

I am so so angry. After losing sleep for days deciding to go on to hrt I finally today took the plunge. I got my prescription for what was supposed to be ESTROGEL not Estrodose. I wasn’t aware until someone in a fb
Forum said to check as the estrodose is not the same and doesn’t work as well as Estrogel. Why are we conned by pharmacists and drug companies into having to take the cheap
Versions of a drug ? I’m taking this back to the pharmacist on Monday. They can damn we’ll get
Me the proper one.

If you search this group you will get a very long thread about it, there is supposed to be no difference, although i do prefer the Estrogel. If you have taken it out of the pharmacy they will not exchange it, you will have to get another prescription.
Give it a go, you may be fine with it.

I was supposed to start the progesterone pills alongside it tonight. I’m not taking them or the gel. I want the correct gel. Not this cheaper version of it. I’m so angry to get conned like this. I don’t care if they say it’s the same. I want the real one. So now I have to wait another two days until I resume. That’s if I can get it from the pharmacy. After chasing another description. So infuriating.

Unfortunately there is a lot of misinformation about this which has been going on for years. See my answer on the other post. It is absolutely NOT a cheap version of a drug and don't let anyone tell you this. Just ignore all the hysteria  on whatever FB forum you are looking at - seriously. Whoever is ranting about this whole subject is doing women a disservice by creating dissatisfaction and meaning many women are expecting it not to work whereas previously most women do not appear to notice a difference. The ony thing we don't know is whether one of the parallel importers is maybe storing the gel for too long or repackang it incrrectly - but the yellow card scheme and the batch numbers ( write to Besins too) will tell you. From what Besins have told us the products are just one product - the estradiol gel, packaged and named differently for different EU markets. I'll bump the thread though most is now a couple of years old.

Please do try this HRT. There is no reason not to. You have not been conned.
