Hi AlwaysManchester, join the club,i am in my 70s, but i don't feel it at all, and hate the ageing process, but of course the alternative is worse,i feel like i felt in my 20s-30s, and luckily up to now reasonably good health
Had to laugh though a couple of weeks ago, my daughter rang and said "i feel like an old lady when i go upstairs" i said" yes so do i" then we both burst out laughing, because of course i am, but i don't think of myself as old ever
I still have a little giggle to my self sometimes when i think of it
There is lots you can do without resorting to cosmetic surgery, a little tweak here and there ,a new hairstyle,or even colour,or maybe highlights, some nice bright clothes, etc
I do feel for you, but i think most of us go through this, although some wont admit it,and some don't even care
If someone has a good marriage and a loving partner i think it might be easier,
Reaching 60 for some reason didn't bother me, but time seems to be rushing by,i try not to think about it

I got through 30 OK but woke at 31 thinking that I had got fat overnight  >:(  ::) - ? why ?

Now that I have found a company that sells jeans in my leg length, I'm away: denim with bright tops and shoes that match the tops, usually lilac or pink; bright jeans with contrasting or clashing tops and maroon shoes ............ get the picture?  Don't care, won't care - won't take no crap.  I tend to wear brighter colours in the Winter months.

I hate dresses/skirts. Love jeans, socks, slippers ....... lazy clothing ;-).

Hi AlwaysManchester,
I'm 49 in a few months, and have been on HRT for around 10 years since surgical menopause.
I still think of myself as young, and am told I don't look my age. Maybe helps that I've not had kids, I dunno?  ;D ;D
My husband is 11 years older than me & sometimes, jokingly, says "you're not 18 any more" but my reply to him is always "yeah, and I'm not dead either!"
I still listen to new/indie music, wear the clothes I want and behave the way I want. I'm not hurting anyone.
It's a cliche I know, but age is just a number.  Enjoy yourself and be the person you know you are.   ;D

AlwaysManchester,  I don't think you should worry about what other people think.  Getting old is natural and unavoidable but it's a bonus.  Some people out there die young and it's so unfair.  The mutton dressed as lamb is a cliche and I think you shouldn't worry about what other think. If they don't like it, it's there problem.  You should wear what makes you happy.  I'm 49, nearly 50, and I find that the clothes they make for this age group are not interesting.  I don't like the styles nor do I like the fabrics they use.  I like to wear denim  t-shirts, etc.  as they reflect my personality.  I am not someone who takes herself seriously. and I look and feel younger than my age.  As someone mentioneed here, age is just a number.  Life is too short so you should enjoy it.

I have long hair at 57 and have no intention of cutting it,I wear it up in a messy bun or have a side pleat,so much you can do with long hair but I do keep it in good condition, nothing worse than long frizzy/dry hair

Like you, I have no intention of cutting my hair short.  Why do they say that when you get to a certain age you shouldn't have long hair?  It's rubbish.

I was feeling exactly the same 2 years ago, when I diagnosed with early meno at 42. I was devastated and felt old before my time.
I feel totally differently 2 years later. Ageing is more a state of mind. The way we feel reflect on the way we perceive ourselves and our image. I feel and look better than before cause I just feel better. Hope it helps!:)

Hello ladies.

I have struggled with the reality of aging and I think the menopause doesn't help because it affects every aspect of our lives and  the changes can feel brutal at times. There's nothing like a hot flush or a sudden change of mood to remind you that your ovaries have atrophied and the rest of you is not that far behind lol.

Perhaps the answer to happy aging is to remain as individual as you always were and to keep a sense of humour regardless of what Mother Nature throws at you.

Wishing you all well ladies.

It's obviously a matter of choice but some women find that long hair can accentuate your jowls giving the face a depressed, dragged down look once you're older. Shorter hair can uplift jowls and also eyes somehow. I'm 66 with long hair and jowly bits ;D

I look at myself everyday, and I hate it.  :-\
Wrinkles on my cheeks and a saggy belly.  ;D
I can't believe im 56 this year!  :o
BUT, there's not a thing I can do about it, so we may aswell just except it. 🤷‍♀️
Took me a while though, then one day, it dawns on you, we can't stop time! 🤷‍♀️
We're still us, just older.
