Everol 50 dose question
«

Hi
I've stuck my 1st everol 50 patch on tonight :-) just have a question about the oestrogen dose, I usually take 2mg of progynova daily, I've just checked the dose on the everol patch which says releases 50 micrograms daily which equates to 0.05mg ? So is this actually a lower dose of oestrogen I'm taking? Very confused.
**I've placed the patch at the top of my thigh is this ok??
Thanks

Hi there - you can't compare oral with transdermal HRT. Oral oestrogen doses gives the total amount in the tablet much of which is lost to digestion and metablism through the liver. Transdermal HRT the dose given is the approx average amount released straight into the bloodstream per day through the patch, so doesn't need to be as high. The equivalent doses given are very approximate because women absorb differently - so give as low, medium and high. A 50 mcg patch is a medium dose as I think is 2 mg oestrogen so you just have to try it and see because as I said they are average doses. If after a few weeks you notice a return of symptoms then try adding another quarter patch and see how you get on (then speak to your doc about increasing the prescription dose). I use a cut down 75 mcg patch to give approx 62.5 mcg.
Place the patch where most convenient for you and where it won't get rubbed off by clothing. I stick mine on my butt cheeks and always have done.
Good luck

Thanks Hurdity that makes sense :-)
Think I'll put my next on on bum cheek , very aware of where it is and dont want to put Jean's on today.. I've switched from the tabs to patch straight away so presume my levels will just stay the same (or higher fingers crossed) ?

Hi I've been on this regime before my current one and I found that it gave me erratic side effects. But that is of course just me. But I did have a conversation with my GP about doubling up or cutting patches in half and her response was that you actually can't safely do that. I do trust my GP because she is an expert in womens health (and the menopause) and as a result I stopped using patches. It is the case that the bio-availability of the active ingredients in patches is so much greater than that from anything in tablet form so the previous poster is correct on that. I think around 68% or so of oestrogens in oral preparations get flushed down the toilet- hence the oral doses are higher. I think my advice is to stick with it for a good couple of months and see how you feel. I've now had 4 types of HRT in 10 months and honestly this wreaks havoc with your body. Good luck, I really hope this works for you as it's a very convenient way to manage symptoms if it suits you.

Hi Crosscat :-)
The everol 50 gave you side effect?, I've been ok on the 2mg tablet form of oestrogen but wasnt absorbing as my oestrogen levels were on the floor, so trying this now and the everol conti for 2 weeks, I'm progesterone intolerant so keeping fingers crossed I'm ok on the conti.. x

Hopefully you will be OK LW44. I have only ever used patches and never had any concerns about levels nor variability - I feel they keep levels remarkably stable given that it's an artificial way of getting extra oestrogen!
Hopefully also getting the progestogen transdermally won't affect you as badly as eg taking it orally - if this has been your previous experience - re progesterone intolerance?
Let us know how you get on

Thank you Hurdity :-)
My previous experience on progesterone has been horrendous both tablet form and pessary but not going to dwell on it..
I am sleeping like I've been in a coma since had the patch on ! Full 8.5 hrs but waking up groggy.. I'll take that though if sleeping through the night and hopefully will pass as body adjusts.

Hi LW44 I’m the same with progesterone. First two years on HRT I was fine. Now I’m going around in circles. I feel so bad with headaches etc it makes me wonder if it’s time to call it a day with it. I’m also worried I’m messing with my womb lining because I keep giving up on the utrogestan. I hate it. I tried evorel conti and that was awful. Felt suicidal. I was thinking of tridestra, which means progesterone every 3 months. I’m honestly at the end of my tether 😟

Oh no really? In awful on progesterone.. anxiety through the roof.. I'm dreading the conti patch.. does it stop affecting if pull it off if it's too bad??
I'm the same worry constantly about my womb lining.. as there have been times I haven't taken progesterone. X

Hi
I am on Everol50 and although the patches seem to stick well they curl up at the sides and stick to my underwear! I’ve tried thighs and buttocks! Will this affect my dose? They do not roll up that much but just concerned I’m not getting the whole dose?

Sorry another question? Do the patches absorb better on a fatter area like the buttocks?
