Rosie63, I wear the padded pants, def make a difference. You will probably by achy down below for a few days after being out (I usually am if I haven't been cycling for a while) doesn't last though. Just make sure you take opportunities while your out to take pressure off/reposition yourself, if your going over bumps etc lift yourself of the saddle to go over makes it less uncomfortable and tolerable.
