    DH is a Grandad, again 

As long as the blackbird doesn't help himself some will survive

I've seen the 1st lambs - from a distance, they looked about 7 days old 


Lots of honey bees this morning, I can hear a background buzz from the Winter flowering honeysuckle, heather plants, snowdrops and crocii

1st hog seen scuttling around the garden on night camera, DH has put 2 cameras out this evening in different places 2 C what appears ......

My first one arrived on Sunday evening. So hungry and devoured the Mr Johnsons hedgehog food. Cameras are really useful. I think I need some new ones this year as they seem to be triggering for no reason. I love watching them in the feeding stations.  Didn't have any in the hibernation boxes this year as far as I know. We did have to take two to rescue last year though. One didn't make it but the other was returned after treatment

Morning.  We don't lift the box lids until hogs are seen regularly.  1 was used last year, the other completely empty even of the straw that I had put inside 

What's in the hedgehog food that you supply?

Just spotted a pair of Blue Tits, checking out our nest box.

How's your froggies doing?
Cleaned the feeders today, birds not impressed at the feeders being gone

No sign of tadpoles yet, some of the spawn was frosted: hopefully it will survive. I try to rotate the feeders so that some are soaking to get them clean. Robin has taken to following me around  hoping for mealworms: however, he then lets the starlings know and he buggas off!

Couple of blackbirds picking up meal worms for nestlings
Warm sunshine to sit in and watch the various insects on the plants

Well I'm fizzing,we had a collared dove nest in our holly bush,could see the eggs,3 of them,been watching the parents every day,they never flew off when we went out to the recycling bins (which is right next the nest) would just sit watching us,then the eggs hatched and last night on the cameras I saw a cat 😡😡😡 this morning,no birds nest empty 😢😢😢

Nature in the raw sadly  . R the parents upset?  There's often a lot of noise: crows, squirrels, jackdaws, jays, magpies will take eggs/nestlings  .

Difficult to put wire over the holly - if it were smaller birds it might work to stop predation but collared doves are similar size to the above.
