I did find a similar sounding one in a plant pot and it turned into a most beautiful moth. I still don't know if it was a cut worm  ;D

A worm is probably that, a worm ?

I was watering pots yesterday afternoon and a large brown moth with eyes flew out, coloured underneath  8)

Cut worms aren't actually "worms" though they are moth caterpillars. https://www.rhs.org.uk/biodiversity/cutworms

:-* 8).      Ours are more wary this year due to more over-growth around the plot which hides the small cat  :o

It's really worrying and especially noticeable this year. This survey found a 78% decrease over the last 20 years https://www.buglife.org.uk/news/bugs-matter-citizen-science-survey-shows-further-decreases-in-uk-insect-numbers/#:~:text=The%20Bugs%20Matter%20findings%20are,to%20the%20decline%20in%20insects.

My young earwigs were around in the spring then disappeared but have returned since we had rain which ended a really dry spell here. The purple loosestrife is usually humming with bees but only two or three today. So sad

There was a lot of activity around the solitary bee 'hotels' in late April early May for about 5 days :-).  otherwise, very few  :-\

I have a blue tit nesting in my bathroom vent he she  has been there for  2 years now I didn't have the heart to turn him she out so I've turned the fan off and I open the window instead let's me take a  look when I take the cap off from  this side and soon has I enter the bathroom for a bath or toilet I hear little tapping feet and beak it's quite lovely to be honest that I can give a safe home we have a lot of hawks here I was devastated last year I was sat watching the sparrows and down it came right in front of me and snatched one away did the same with one of our robins I know it's nature but I wish it was designed differently I love my birds in the garden so therapeutic I have a old Belfast sink covered with plants around so they can bath I hope we see lots more coming into our gardens 🤗

Lots of ermine moths in the house  :-\.  The caterpillars in their webs were removed from our spindle trees earlier this year .......  ::)

Not many butterflies or insects in general even on the lavender and hebe plants  :'(
