Because my dog was blonde I could spot runners including ticks quite easily. With ticks I would put some alcohol onto it - 1 dropped off into the bedroom carpet, it was grey/blue and full!  This critter however  :o

Morning.  They will work until the starlings learn how to wobble the feeders so that they can pick up from underneath  ;D

Great! Except now they have gone to decimate someone else's seed... How much does postage costs on each bird I wonder?! And if anyone says it's probably quite CHEEP then I won't be held responsible for my actions.🐥

Mine tend to prefer the fat balls to the seed but the youngsters do love the sunflower hearts when they first begin to feed themselves. This dry weather is very difficult for all of the birds and wildlife.

SarahT. If they had satnavs you could programme my postcode in  ;D

Aaawwww noooo Sarah!! That's you banned from MM for that bad joke  ;D
Sunflower hearts are soooo expensive, hence the reason I grudge the starlings pinching them all but I'm forbidden from putting seeds out the front because his royal highness doesn't want the lawn sprouting 🙄

Taz maybe we could train them as homing starlings? Unless that means they would just fly straight back here. Duh!

Jaypo if I didn't have sunflowers from bird seed growing in the lawn amongst the moss then I would have no green whatsoever out there to mow...

Had some shall we say slightly aromatic plant self  seed once but someone said bird seed is treated so no one accidentally sets up a cannabis farm under the bird table! Not that I recognised what it was of course....  ;)

Could it have been a Shoo Fly plant Sarah T ?  RHS have an explanation if you want to look it up.

We thought our 90 year old neighbour was growing cannabis but between us when asked by him what we thought the plant was worked out that the seed had come from our bird feeder.

He has no bird feeder himself but as a plantsman was interested to let this grow quite large ! No internet to help him identify it either.

I grew a cannabis plant in the 1990s from bird seed  ;D

It was collared doves at 4.30 a.m.  >:(
