I used to hang those rotating spirals on our windows, just with some blue tack, they certainly helped 100%

Ooooo that's a nice idea thanks. I like the idea of that. Something colourful. The eaves hang over the window by a lot so i might try hanging some outside to begin with. Grandchildren can't be tempted to get at them then either.

2 pigeons hit the window last year. Interesting for grandchildren to see the imprint of a wing but not a nice thing to happen.  One baby sparrow got stunned but eventually flew off.

Thanks CLKD.  Will keep window bird feeder on back burner for now.

The meal worms were eaten by the starlings because I forgot to put the lid on the feeder  :cuss:  :bang: :bday3: :kick:

However: wren was outside the feeder fluttering wings whilst a 2nd 1 popped in and out of course, not finding any  ::)

We watched mason bees fluttering around the bee 'hotels' where 11 months ago there was a lot of activity with females laying eggs :-).  Some of the bamboo tubes are now empty .

Pair of robins feeding young and a male blackbird has a fledging at foot, nagging  :D.  Female blackbirds picking up meal worms to take back to the nests.

I’ve been hearing strange noises in the morning, which I couldn’t identify. It was difficult to locate where the noise was coming from. Mice in the loft?  I’d forgotten DH had put up a new nesting box by the window and hung a squirrel proof bird feeder on the hanging basket hook next to it temporarily as the pole hadn’t fared well with the squirrels frustrated attempts to get at the seed. It seems we have tenants! Sparrows, which have not been visitors in the garden for many years. One noise was metal on metal as birds visited the feeder and the other noise was movement in the nesting box. This morning I could hear quiet chirping. I hoped they are happy with their accommodation!

That's great news!  One of the boxes is on the outside wall which backs onto our bathroom, I often hear scratching ..........

Did U get rid of the bats?  Once it gets warmer we will sit on the patio awaiting the hedgehogs, as well as having the bat detector to hand.

Robins fledged 3 days ago :-)

Lots of solitary bees around the bug hotels  8)

Possible 6 hedgehogs around the garden at 10.00 p.m.; we had 5 round our feet and could hear others snuffing .........  :-*

Caught a squirrel in the cage trap today. It should have been the rat which wanders in the garden after bird food.   >:(
