Your local Vet., asking if it's possible that it's bird 'flu? 

I take mammals to the Vets as they require proper euthanisation if necessary, birds we can deal with.

It looks fairly young but not little,if you know what I mean,it was sitting on the fence today,so hopefully it's recovering,what a palaver  :-\

Why not?  For all the birds that we see poorly there will be many more who die in the undergrowth, naturally.  1 can't save the World.  If something is obviously suffering that's a different matter.

Taz - advice on keeping the areas clean under the feeders please.  I move the nut holders etc. regularly - I bought 2 more metal stands yesterday and fixed those in a different place - do U use a disinfectant on the ground at all?

Many years ago we did.  1 cannabis plant from the bird seed grew in-between the patio slabs.  Jokingly I kept telling everyone that we had a cannabis plant, when it flowered and I looked it up in the poisons book, it was  ;D.  We set fire to it so that it didn't spread .........

I will need to look up Shoo-fly plant - sounds South African?

Family: Solanaceae

Kingdom: Plantae
. same family as potatoes and deadly nightshade - looks similar to the sweet potatoes we are growing.
