Live and let live. Me.  Hornets rarely sting, the sheer size is enough to make people step back.   ;D

Now wasps.  They are sneaky.  We find nests in our garden every year, but never in the same place but always close by the paths  :D.  The bumble bees moved on  :(  :'(

Seeing wildlife can really lift your mood, I only have to see a wren and it makes me happy  :) it's not a rare bird but I love to watch them, always busy  :)

You?re right TH,I'm so grateful I live where I do,looking from the upstairs window, I watch all the lambs playing in the field next to us and the deer grazing,it almost takes you back to normality in a way

I have lots of blue tits, and 2 robins, must be living in my hedge,as i see them flying in and out ,pecking at the bird seed and a half coconut filled with something like suet,
They go through more food than my cats, but lovely to watch
Had a wasps nest in my roof last year,it was awful, i kept finding them in my bathroom, almost stood on one,
I had to get someone out to get rid of them,it took 2 visits
Also had a bees nest on the roof above the bedroom window, they left of their own accord eventually and didn't bother me

Wasps don't return to nesting sites.  Bees may well do, if you think of those kept in apiaries.  Something to watch during lock down ;-)

jaypo I know what you mean about hornets! They fly into the upstairs spare bedroom where I have my computer sometimes and they are mahoosive yes and scary with their deep loud buzz and the way they fly about seemingly randomly! Apparently their sting can be even more painful (obviously because they are bigger than wasps so contain more venom).

We saw our first swallows today while out on our walk :). Lovely to hear their twittering and chattering!

Last week saw martins along the river...

Blackcaps and chiff chaffs on our wild plot too....  early purple orchids (wild not cultivated) almost in full bloom. Wild garlic almost out as well as bluebells and dogs mercury (also all on our patch).

Wonder when our house martins will be back....they usually come much later?

I'm always on the hunt for wild garlic. It makes a lovely soup  :)

I know where there's a wood of wild garlic  ;) which is why I resisted planting it in our garden as ti spreads.
