Watch out pigeons  ;D

Taz x

Tell me about it Taz - the peris love them. Once the chicks hatch & start growing the parents bring pigeons into the nest & they get....no I'll leave it there as it can get a bit messy.

I have a red leg partridge that seems rather taken by a resin bird ornament that is about the same size as him/her, it's so sweet it was dozing next to it earlier x

One would need two with peas, carrots, mash  :whist:

We kept quail for a few years but they had to be penned over-all as they were flighty  ::) - pretty little things  :)

Haven't looked out yet to see what is happening.  Hog was on the patio eating meal worms at 10.30 p.m.  :-*

I'm on our patio in the  :sunny: avoiding the cold breeze.  Watching the robins feeding each other, then mating - obviously she was impressed enough with the meal worms  ;D.  I've never seen that happen, almost like they were telling me 'thanks' for the protein  ;)

The local council wanted to cut back the old field hedge at the end of our road. One half was done in January and they said they were coming in March to do the other half. In the meantime the baby magpie born here last year and his lady friend have built a next in the trees. The council were adamant they were going to cut everything down until it was pointed out by us that Magpies and other birds are protected by the 1981 Town and Country Act. Eventually the environment department at the council accepted they would be in the wrong for destroying the nest at this time of year so have postponed their work on the hedge until October. A small victory for the little man and thanks to the support of the environment department as maintenance department pleaded total ignorance on this subject. No sign of any baby magpies yet. I know there will be feathers everywhere as they grow.
