Been watching mummy blue tit's role changing.  She has brought the kids for several days and they would sit on the feeding station while she collected mouthfuls to give them.  Then she started feeding herself and ignoring them.  that didn't go down too well with them shouting at her.  Over the past day they have mastered clinging onto the feeders themselves.  They would sit there swinging as if they were at a funfair.  Now they 'get it' and are almost ready to go.  Well done mummy blue tit  :)

We have a mental blackbird in and around the garden.
It has made the start of the blackbird warning sound over and over and over till it nearly drove us up the wall. It started at 5am and if I could have got ahold of it it I would have put a peg on its beak. It was still going five hours later.

It's a fully grown male, but what's going on in its head is anyone's guess.

We have had a return of a squirrel today. Not seen any for a while....the one good thing was it shut the blackbird up  ::)

It has probably got one of his young parked in a bush somewhere close or, sadly, it may have had a youngster killed by something . I always go out and have a good look round when they are shouting their warning like that but it can take quite a while to find what the problem is. Hope it's got over it by tomorrow!

Probably shouting at the squirrel MrsB, or a magpie which is what ours nags loudly until I go out to shoo the magpie away or a cat ....... it is always a warning and I try to get out to see if I can assist.

Baby blue-tits in the shrubs today, out regularly with the meal worms.  Baby blue-tits were searching in the climbing rose and jasmine searching.  Baby robin and parent on the patio.  Blackbird singing.

It's started again about an hour ago. I did have a look around and can't find anything obvious but it's clearly distressed about something. It's not the full blown......run there is a cat around cry..,,,it's just constant and very loud chirping.

Oh I do hope it flys a bit further away from my bedroom window in the morning   ::)

Found a nest of blue-tits in our garden mid-morning  :bounce:.  I had watched the box from our kitchen but hadn't noted any nest building materials being taken in, I could hear tapping earlier and noticed a cat watching quietly.  Then 2 little beaks pooked out followed by a parent in with food and out with a poo sack  :-*

Oh I'm so pleased.

I got to see my first red squirrel for such a long while.

It ran in front of us when we were out for a walk. They are so pretty. Before I could get my camera out ....it was gone.

So I've seen Highland Cattle.... ;D

Four Roe Deer.

And my very best yet.....A golden Eagle. We knew they were in our area but I never thought I would see one. Goodness even at a great height....it was huge. We were in our garden and hubby had the binoculars out and then I spotted it over the hills behind us.

All I've got to do now is see a couple of seals and that's me ticked my list.

Mind you I've got seals at home  ::) so I'm not sure why they are on my list.

Quite chuffed really but given I'm in the back end of nowhere then it's not surprising really.

Had to go and Google where the nesting sites are and whether it was actually possible to see one around here.

It is and we did although it was very high and a good distance away.

Quite chuffed really.

I think the little red squirrel was my favourite though.

I don't know whether we saw a Golden Eagle on Skye all those years ago or not  :-\.  It could have been ...... we saw Highalnders too although they are bred locally to us but to see them in the 'wild' was lovely  :-*

My 'want' was spoonbills which I got to see in the wild on the North Norfolk Coast about 8 years ago :).  I see egrets regularly as well as the occasionally osprey.

I've just let the dog out for her last sniff & wee etc & as I stepped out on to the patio I accidentally trod on a snail.  :barf:

I feel terrible about it now. I mean I don't really like them but what a way to go  :( :(

At least it was fast Cazikins  ;D

Well just to top off my day yesterday.
Hubby and I were outside with the dog about 11:30 just admiring the night sky and commenting on the fact it just doesn't get that dark up here......when a barn owl swooped past into the neighbouring field. We could see if flying around quite clearly.

Made my day.

It's a very satisfying crunch - unless one hasn't any footwear on  ;). Makes it easier for the hedgehog to eat!

Many years ago: B4 we were married: we were cycling across the Fen which has drains.  Deep muddy/water filled drains.  It was dark.  A barn owl flew out of the mist: which hangs about 4 feet above the drains : and flew along side of us.  I can still feel the  :o :o as it emerged from the mist.  I almost finisned up around his neck  ;D

Next doors' cat had a blue tit earlier  :sigh:.  There was I thinking he was too idle  ::)

Turned out our ponds today and found 4 new frogs from this year's spawn  :).  Lots of mud >holds nose<.  Pots with rubbish/grass in rather than was what planted years ago  ::) - a good excuse to go to a garden centre  ;)
