Crows and rooks are getting hungry here due to the really dry weather. They are having problems finding enough worms and beetles apparently.  I agree it's difficult to keep up with feeding all of them. We rarely have crows on our birdtable but rooks visit quite often along with jackdaws and three families of magpies. I love to hear them chattering to each other - not the raucous noise they make but the really quiet clicking and murmuring they do.

Baby bullfinches and baby goldfinches this evening. So lovely to listen to them too.

It's the second brood of both breeds CLKD so, yes, we are lucky. There were six goldfinch babies in the apple tree on the niger feeder all doing this but making lots more noise!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj3bgDHttYk

How sweet.  I would have looked at those babies and thought 'greenfinch'.

Every day's a learning curve …….

We now have binoculars in the kitchen, a pair each; another pair in the car and 2 pairs in the camper ……. don't want to miss anything!

LOTS of duck weed on our ponds and I have been trying to clear it  :-\ - found a Cinnabar moth emerging so DH has taken photos  :).  How I didn't knock it into the pond I don't know as I've been wafting the net around Big Time !   New order made for live meal worms ...... blackbird isn't far away  ::)

It wasn't a Cinnebar Moth but a rare Scarlett Tiger - usually found in Wales  :o - DH has reported the finding to our local moth person who is really interested: apparently: but not enough to visit our garden  ::)

I saw 2 hedgehogs the other night out on the neighbours front lawn, haven't seen any for quite a while.

I remembered a link of Taz's about recording sightings etc of them - but found that it was only run last year.

Your local wildlife group may well have a survey ………. most areas have a local 'person' who is interested in moths/bats/hedghogs etc.  ;)

The Tree Pippits worked very hard to make a lovely nest inside a clog that I used to put plants in. After sitting we now have two very busy parents feeding five chicks. I have photos but am unsure how to post them here.

Hi Taz, I hope life is treating you well.
I am awacbe !!! Been about 6 yr since I was on here.
