He's too cute for soup!!   I imagine he was about 8 inches.  We have some, I think they are called, Leatherneck turtles that are huge and sort of flat - like a foot in diameter.  He's gone.  He was amazingly fast.  The dogs had this low throat growl.  They both pretend to be brave, but they are wimps at heart.

Probably can't eat a whole one  ;) - Ninja turltes are a problem in the UK, after the Craze owners dumped them into ponds and they grow HUGE  :o and bite hard.

Do we seem to have a shortage of ladybirds around this year, my plants seem to be full of green fly and black fly, and I've hardly seen any of our little ladybirds about.

Nope.  Lots earlier on and now the aphids are around the ladybirds have gone - probably full up from the Spring!  I did see several ladybirds earlier this week in the sunshine.

It does fine right here!  I was reading an article only yesterday about how people miss 'the' moment because they are staring through a camera lens, rather than watching what's in front of them right 'now'  ..........

It wasn't my own find CLKD but is worth sharing, sometimes I feel I love our world so much, I will never want to leave it.

I love your pic meggie, sums up the heat todY  ;D
Have just finished mowing front lawn, took me 3 times longer than normal, gawd, wish I felt well, and I had to cut mower off to move slow worms, and an adder. Haven't seen many of them this year. Lots of red ant nests forming on the lawn.  I love nature, well unless the wasps decide to nest in the house.

Our wasps have disappeared. For the past thirty years they have always nested somewhere in the roof space over the kitchen door. They began nest building as normal but then just disappeared - much to my youngest son's relief who has always hated them. I wonder if the dry weather had anything to do with it?

We get wasps collecting water from our ponds and flying off - maybe if there wasn't enough water around?

Nothing getting done in our house today: since 9.40 Himself has been by our middle pond photographing a dragonfly emerging from it's 'cacoon' thingy ......... and I've been cutting down a very old rosemary bush ready to take cuttings, nipping back to see how the 'thingy' is progressing, making lunch - home grown broad beans, cooked gently with black pepper and butter .......... off to see how things are progressing  :-*
