Oyster catchers are shore birds, never seen them on a roof ......... they have a shrill piping sound as they fly low along the sand.  Oh to live by the sea  :'(

As the crow flies we are about a mile from the coast, does that count?

They are often further inland in the summer. They are lovely looking birds. I love watching them on the shoreline down in Wooly just as it is getting light http://www.bbc.co.uk/nature/taxa/Eurasian_Oystercatcher

Ooh err it's gulls then!!!! Sorry.  Neighbour told me it was oyster catchers.  Maybe there are the odd ones.  I never bother getting up to look to be honest.  Neighbour is always watching birdies & has heaps of feeding boxes etc out for them.  They have a huge back garden with lots of bushes.

Blue sky although it's clouding up now
Birds singing
Wren arguing with another wren

Well whatever birds they are which congregate near my house, woke me at 6 this morning.  Not funny when you've seen every hour, only dozing for short periods in between!

What do they sound like? I lay awake waiting for the first bird to start and then I know I can get up as it's morning, officially, so it doesn't seem so bad!

What's Haiku ?  ???

It's Japanese poetry of 17 syllables in just three lines. Usually 5 syllables in the first & 3rd lines, 7 in the middle one.
Sort of like this...
